Facundo Pellistri can't quite keep the ball in play as he races Mohammed Salisu to the byline.

Ghana take their turn to attack but Uruguay win the ball back and break at pace, Darwin Nunez going down on the edge of the box and seeing his appeals for a foul swiftly dismissed by the referee.

So much on the line here, you can sense the tension around the stadium.

It's rather less raucous than other games I've been to this week.

South Korea start on the front foot but a promising early move is brought to an end by a foul.

It's Uruguay who get things under way.

Just what is in store for us here? It feels big.

Jose Gimenez is down in pain early on after Mohammed Kudus catches him with a late foul inside the first 90 seconds.

Cristiano Ronaldo got some more loud cheers when the camera panned to him during the anthems. I think we can expect a lot of noise when he actually touches the ball.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

Strap yourselves in, folks. This could be a roller-coaster! More controversy and drama? I wouldn't bet against it.

We're getting under way in the final round of games in Group H.

South Korea v Portugal (15:00 GMT)

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

With Portugal being through, Fernando Santos probably thinks he has to change it and give the players who have been patient a chance.

Still a very experienced and good team who should have enough to win.

  10. Postpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

I have to admit I quite fancy the prospect of Brazil-Portugal in the last-16. For that to happen, Portugal need to lose to South Korea.

  11. 'The pain is still there'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    So, no hard feelings then?

    Not quite...

  12. Here come the teamspublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Ghana v Uruguay (15:00 GMT)

So, this one has a little bit of history.

Captain Luis Suarez has a steely look on his face as he stands at the front of the Uruguay team before the sides make their way out on to the field.

Is it about revenge? Maybe for some. But it's really all about the here and now at Al Janoub Stadium.

A place in the World Cup last 16 is on the line.

  13. First time since 2010?published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

South Korea v Portugal (15:00 GMT)

South Korea are looking to avoid the unwanted statistic of being eliminated from the group stage for the third successive time.

They have not reached the last 16 since 2010 and need to hope other results go their way after picking up just one point from their first two games.

South Korea have to win and hope Ghana do not against Uruguay, although should the African nation draw their Asia rivals would require a two-goal margin of victory.

  14. Uruguay favourites to join Portugalpublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis, Nielsen's Gracenote:

"Portugal, ranked fifth in the world by Gracenote, are already sure of a place in the last 16 and have 98.5% chance of finishing top of Group H.

"The match between Ghana and Uruguay will probably decide the other spot with Uruguay on 48% chance of going through and Ghana 40%.

"South Korea also have a slight chance of progress."

It is very difficult to predict looking at some of the results.

Japan beating Spain last night; I thought things would maybe start to settle down!

Some of the football has been outstanding. Both teams need to win; Portugal need it to avoid Brazil, South Korea to go through.

Nerves kicking in knowing they'll go through with victory?
