Xherdan Shaqiri immediately went to get the ball for the free-kick. He was always going to shoot as he was looking at the goal for a few minutes before taking it. The Swiss fans behind the goal were waving their flags in anticipation and he wasn't far off!

In reply to Sean 19.01, bemoaning the lack of football until Friday. There are FA Cup replays being televised to fill the void on the next two evenings. Failing that, there is option of going out to watch a non league game in his local area if that appeals.

Portugal are turning on the style now and Goncalo Ramos is having the game of his life.
He is onto a high ball and though he gets a bit of luck after his first touch bounces back off Fabian Schar, he is able to get a shot off that is saved by the Switzerland keeper.

Cristiano Ronaldo has never scored in the knockout stage of a World Cup. It has taken his replacement Goncalo Ramos just 18 minutes into his first appearance in one.

It's an absolute rocket. It just flew past Sommer who turned around in complete shock. It's a ball into Ramos' feet and he hammers it in at an angle. Sommer didn't see it, it was so powerfully hit. It's a good job the net was there.
Both of his feet were off the ground. He hit it that hard. Sommer has got no chance because it was just blitzed past him.
