    Wycombe 0-0 MK Dons

The visitors are awarded a free-kick just inside the Wycombe half for a push in the back of Scott Twine.

But the delivery is poor and the home side easily clear their lines.

Not much to report so far. It's been a fairly scrappy opening and the game is yet to settle down.

MK Dons owner Pete Winkelman does not expect any repeat of abusive chants directed at Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa during the two-legged League One play-off.

Their 1-0 win at Wycombe in January was marred by offensive chants towards the veteran striker, with those responsible ignoring a tannoy request to stop.

"We're very proud of our supporters, particularly our away support, and I don't expect any problem at all," Winkelman told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"We all know Bayo is a fantastic footballer, who's had the most marvellous career, and we have huge respect for him and for Wycombe."

  9. Manning out to avoid 'hangover'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 5 May 2022

On the face of it, MK Dons head into the play-offs in tip-top form after that win at Home Park on Saturday.

Before a ball was kicked they knew only a win would be good enough to give them a chance of going up automatically - but ulitimately it was not enough as both Wigan and Rotherham won to go up.

Despite that disappointment, boss Liam Manning wants his side to concentrate on the positives, which saw them claim 89 points over the course of the season.

"We've talked about the potential outcomes," Manning told BBC Three Counties Radio. "What is so important is that we don't carry over any of the emotion and hangover you sometimes get.

"We need to take on so many positives from our season into Thursday.

"Gareth [Ainsworth] has done a terrific job with Wycombe, these will be really tough games.

"It's a great opportunity for the guys to go out and perform again."

  10. No favourites in the play-offs - Ainsworthpublished at 19:39 British Summer Time 5 May 2022

Wycombe snuck into the play-offs on the final day of the season by winning at Burton to capitalise on tonight's opponents thrashing Plymouth 5-0 and pip the Pilgrims to sixth place.

And having won promotion to the Championship via this route two seasons ago, Chairboys boss Gareth Ainsworth is insistent that his side can repeat the feat.

"We've got a chance in this," Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio. "There are four teams with a 25% chance each.

"There are no favourites, this is the play-offs, not the league. It's a totally different competition.

"We can go places. Wycombe Wanderers in the Championship, that's what they're saying, and I love it.

"Let's not think about the final, let's get these two games dealt with. MK Dons, it's been a great season for them. I cannot wait for this game on Thursday, it's going to be awesome."

  11. Twine aims for second step uppublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 5 May 2022

    Scott TwineImage source, Rex Features

MK Dons midfielder Scott Twine has made the step up from League Two look easy this season with 20 goals and 13 assists.

Signed from Swindon last summer, he leads the club stats in both categories and has had 116 shots on goal in his 48 appearances so far this season, 50 more than any of his team-mates.

Twine saved the best for the most recent, finding the net four times during last Saturday's 5-0 thrashing of Plymouth Argyle.

It wasn't enough to bring them automatic promotion, but he will surely be a key figure in their play-off double-header against Wycombe.

  12. Chairboys on top form ahead of play-offspublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 5 May 2022

Wycombe v MK Dons (19:45 BST)

MK Dons finished third in the table, three places and six points above Wycombe, won both League One meetings between the two sides 1-0 and also beat them in Papa Johns Trophy.

But when it comes to current form Gareth Ainsworth's Chairboys have been red-hot, unbeaten in 12 league games, eight of which ended in victories.

The Dons have won their last two, but for some fans, it may still be a case of 'if only'....if only they hadn't suffered back-to-back defeats by Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford when they were in second place, the play-off meetings with Wycombe might not have been necessary.
