The stats say no goals for Kostas Tsimikas in a Liverpool shirt but, as anyone who saw the FA Cup final knows, that's not strictly true.

Affectionately known as the 'Greek Scouser', Tsimikas hit the winning penalty in the shootout against Chelsea to earn the Reds a second trophy of the season.

"I'm not the Greek Scouser, I am a Scouser who is Greek," said the player who joined for about £11.7m from Olympiakos in August 2020.

Make no mistake, Tsimikas would have played more games but for the outstanding form of Andrew Robertson at left-back.

A popular figure in the dressing room, he has attained legendary status with fans thanks to that Wembley penalty.

Tsimikas grew up in a household of long-distance Reds supporters in Greece.

"It was one of my biggest dreams to play in a big club and it was Liverpool, because my family were big supporters of Liverpool since I was young – my brother and my father. And I make their dream come true," said Tsimikas.

On his 'Greek Scouser' nickname, he added: "I like it when I see the fans call me that.

“This makes me happy, this gives me extra power when you know the fans of your team are supporting you and call you like that."

Aged 36, James Milner is the most experienced player in the Liverpool squad.

He might not play as much as he did earlier in his career but Milner is still a huge presence and influence in the dressing room.

"He's a role model. I have told him, I can tell the whole world – nothing we have achieved in the last few years would have happened without James Milner, it's as easy as that," said Jurgen Klopp.

“Whether he was on the pitch or not, he's set standards in a way not a lot of people can set standards, and it educated all of us."

He has also made his old PE teacher extremely proud.

"Joe went on to achieve an A* at GCSE - it’s a testament to his work ethic that the time he missed at school while playing football did not detract from his studies," Kris Hollidge said., external

So much so that former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher joked that Origi deserves a statue after scoring against Everton last month.

  12. Curtis Jones - from Toxteth to captainpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 25 May 2022

Age: 21 Position: Midfielder Liverpool career: 74 apps, 8 goals

Imagine being 19 and leading Liverpool out at a sold-out Anfield wearing the captain's armband.

Curtis Jones doesn't have to. He's already done it.

At the age of just 19 years and five days, Jones broke Alex Raisbeck’s 120-year-old record to become the Reds’ youngest skipper when they defeated Shrewsbury Town 1-0 in an FA Cup fourth-round replay in February 2020.

It was a dream come true for the boy who grew up in nearby Toxteth and used to climb over the fence of the primary school at the top of his street with his mates to play football each night.

"Growing up [in Toxteth] made me the player I am today - confident, brave, knowing where I need to get to," he said in an interview with the Independent, external in 2020.

  13. 'Very intelligent lad'published at 15:10 British Summer Time 25 May 2022

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Curtis Jones has got a swagger about him and I hope people don't see it in the wrong way.

It is just a confidence and it is what often takes a player to the next level. They have that swagger and arrogance about them because they believe they are good enough.

He is a very intelligent lad when he speaks and talks to other players. I know from speaking to players in the changing room at Liverpool that he questions everything - which is great. It is him saying 'how do I learn, how do I get better?'

  14. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - joined Reds to win trophiespublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 25 May 2022

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left Arsenal to win the biggest trophies and to become a mainstay of Liverpool's midfield.

He might not have been involved since March, but the England midfielder has played a role in Liverpool's trophy haul over the past four seasons.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's time at Anfield has included frustrating spells on the treatment table, with Klopp memorably saying, external after one injury: "We will wait for Alex like a good wife when a man is in prison."

'A crazy experience' - Harvey Elliott on injury, recovery and Champions League history

Harvey Elliott is living every football-mad teenager's dream.

Signed from Fulham at the age of 16 in 2019, Elliott has established himself as a popular figure with fans - both on and off the pitch.

He came on as a substitute to help Liverpool win their first trophy of this season in the Carabao Cup final.

When Elliott suffered a serious ankle injury away to Leeds last September, he ended up giving up his shirt to a young fan who was in the same hospital after hurting his wrist in a juniors match.

As well as scoring during Liverpool's run to the FA Cup final this season, Elliott has been an unused substitute at the 2019 Fifa Club World Cup final and the 2019 Uefa Super Cup.

And he only turned 19 on 4 April.

While on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season, Elliott celebrated scoring the winning goal in the 2-1 defeat of Derby County by paying tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster.

This Liverpool squad is full of feel-good stories and here's another.

A prolific striker as a schoolboy, Caoimhin Kelleher started playing in goal at under-14 level.

His decision to switch positions saw Kelleher emerge as a hero at this season's Carabao Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley.

The Reds' second-choice keeper produced a string of fine saves as the final ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, before the boy from Cork scored the winning penalty in a memorable 11-10 penalty shootout triumph.

    The stuff of dreams.

  18. Classy touchpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 25 May 2022

After Kelleher's Wembley heroics in February, Jurgen Klopp sent the keeper's former club a note thanking them for the player.

Liverpool signed Kelleher from Ringmahon Rangers in Cork as a 16-year-old in 2015.

"To everyone at Ringmahon Rangers, thank you for sending us Caoimhin. He's done you proud," the note said.

In addition, Liverpool sent Rangers the shirt Kelleher wore at Wembley.

  20. 'Have a good time in Paris'published at 14:24 British Summer Time 25 May 2022

    Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager

My players have played an insane season. I am very proud of this group, I am very proud of this club.

The whole journey, it's absolutely exceptional. We have a special group of players and some of them are playing a third Champions League final, which is absolutely incredible.

I hope all the fans can make it somehow and can create - of course they will - an incredible atmosphere.

I think Paris is big enough to go there without a ticket and have a good time, behave yourself but be in the best possible mood.
