Caroline Weir finds Claire Emslie on the left of the box. The winger gets her shot away but is brought down at the same time.

Penalty given. On second viewing it looks harsh on Ukraine.

    Ukraine 0-0 Scotland

Erin Cuthbert is seeing a lot of the ball in midfield but the Chelsea player's clipped attempt over the top is too long.

  11. Premutations favour Scotspublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 24 June 2022

    Ukraine v Scotland (19:15)

It should all be pretty straightforward for Scotland should they win, or even draw. Lose and it becomes a tad more complicated.

Beat Ukraine and they move nine points clear of their fourth-placed hosts, and four ahead of third-top Hungary, ruling the Ukrainians out the running for a play-off place.

That leaves Hungary. Even if they were to deliver Ukraine a second successive defeat in Rzeszow on Tuesday, the Hungarians would then have to spring an almighty shock away to Spain in September.

And even if they achieve that, Hungary would then have to hope Scotland do the unthinkable and lose away to group minnows Faroe Islands.

Lose tonight, however, and Pedro Martinez Losa's side could be left biting their fingernails. It would be the Scotland way...

  13. 'Scotland are the better side'published at 18:59 British Summer Time 24 June 2022

    Scotland v Ukraine (19:15)

    Leanne Crichton
Ex-Scotland international speaking to BBC Scotland

I think the reality is the emotions were not the reason why the men lost. I think they were outclassed, they were outplayed and were ultimately beaten by a better side on the night.

The women's game is in similar circumstances, it will be emotionally driven, but I do believe Scotland are a better side than Ukraine - they have the better players.

  16. One Scotland from Spain defeatpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 24 June 2022

    Ukraine v Scotland (19:15)

Scotland boss Pedro Martinez Losa has gone for continuity with just one change to the side that started April's 2-0 defeat to Spain.

The single switch sees Abi Harrison drop out the attack for Sassuolo's Lana Clelland.

There's still no place for Arsenal defender Jen Beattie as Brighton's Sophie Howard partners captain Rachel Corsie at the centre of defence.

    Ukraine v Scotland (19:15)

Less than a month after Ukraine ended Scotland's men's hopes of reaching the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the women's sides go head-to-head in a fixture of equal importance.

Due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the game will take place in Poland, at Rzeszow's Stadion Miejski, where the Scots can take a giant leap towards securing a World Cup play-off place with a victory.
