The EFL delivers again, with shocks down in Royal Berkshire, with Reading's win over pre-match leaders Blackburn.

Sheffield United kept up their revival with their win over Sunderland, who remain in midtable after their first loss.

Middlesbrough were denied a first win by Stoke's late heroics from D'Margio Wright-Phillips, while it was a bit calmer at the Hawthorns where West Brom and Cardiff shared a point in their goalless draw.

We'll back in just under 48 hours time with some more EFL action, when Norwich City play Millwall.

Join us, or miss out. Good night.

    Well... who saw that coming?

Terrific performance from Reading. The better side from start-to-finish.

    Sheff Utd 2-1 Sunderland

Sheffield United make it three unbeaten on the back of their opening weekend defeat by Watford, picking up a victory over 10-man Sunderland.

Anel Ahmedhodzic's header just a couple of minutes after Dan Neil was sent-off for Sunderland put the hosts in front, and a superb move finished off by Max Lowe secured the second.

Lynden Gooch made it interesting with a beautiful dink over Wes Foderingham, but the Blades held out.

The Blades' promotion bid is right back on course. Sunderland's unbeaten start ends at Bramall Lane.

    Reading 3-0 Blackburn

What a bounce back this is for Reading having been panned 4-0 by Rotherham on Saturday.

A second win of the season for the Royals.

Tom McIntyre gave them an early lead, Junior Hoilett made it two just after an hour before Lucas Joao applied the coup de grace.

Blackburn's perfect start to the campaign ends in ignominious fashion but they remain top of the Championship.

    Sheff Utd 2-1 Sunderland

Sunderland have had a second wind late on. But Sheffield United keep doing enough against the 10-men.

There's a Bosnia flag on display in the stands, and rightly so as Anel Ahmedhodzic has become a proper favourite at Bramall Lane.

    WBA 0-0 Cardiff

The Baggies had the better of the first-half chances but couldn't break the deadlock.

And they didn't do enough in the second half to force a first victory of the campaign.

Cardiff had their moments too but will probably be happy with a point.

Semi Ajayi's header for Albion forces a save from Ryan Allsop as they enter four minutes of stoppage time.

    Sheff Utd 2-1 Sunderland

    WHAT A SAVE ANTHONY PATTERSON.

Reda Khadra plays a ball into Oli McBurnie, which the Sheffield United striker initially struggles to dig out of his feet, but then snap-shots low and Patterson dives low to his right.

He then beats away a thumping header from the corner, and gathers another dangerous cross on another set-piece seconds later.

He's giving his side some hope.

Cross whistled in from the left for Sheffield United with Oli McBurnie lurking near post, but Sunderland keeper Anthony Patterson dives onto it to deny him.

    Big and brave.

    Sheff Utd 2-1 Sunderland

Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge goes down after he took a bit of a slash across the leg from a lunging Dennis Cirkin.

Sunderland boss Alex Neil still hammering out messages to his team late on. They're already down to 10.

Blades look back in control now.

    Reading 3-0 Blackburn

Tayo Edun trying to make his mark off the bench for Blackburn but he can only drag a shot wide from the top of the area.

Looking like just one of those nights here for Rovers.

Seven minutes of stoppage time for them to endure.

    Sheff Utd 2-1 Sunderland

Sheffield United midfielder Oliver Norwood has played in a proverbial dinner suit tonight with a Swiss army knife of a foot, and almost added a goal to his artist's collection of passes but Anthony Patterson dived desperately to claw it out.

Great effort. Sunderland cannot afford to concede.

    WBA 0-0 Cardiff

Nothing much doing in this second half in B71.

Sheyi Ojo has carried Cardiff's biggest threat but he's withdrawn for the final 15 mins.

    Can either side nick this?

    Stoke 2-2 Middlesbrough

Honours even then, after D'Margio Wright-Phillips pounced late on to equalise, after Duncan Watmore and a Phil Jagielka own-goal (or Watmore again depending who you ask) had put Boro 2-1 up.

Jacob Brown had opened the scoring, before Stoke let slip.

Chris Wilder's side wait for that first win. Stoke make it four points from 12.

    Reading 3-0 Blackburn

    Ross Heaton
    BBC Radio Lancashire

That's it, Rovers unbeaten start to this Championship season, is pretty much over!

A good finish from the Reading substitute Joao who gathered the ball, turned, spun and finished.

The goalkeeper rooted to the spot had no chance.

GOAL: Stoke 2-2 Middlesbroughpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 17 August 2022

    D'Margio Wright-Phillips (90+1 mins)

    STOKE HAVE DONE IT.

D'Margio Wright-Phillips gets to a Lewis Baker cross and buries it into the Boro net.

Great character from the Potters. Boro and Chris Wilder will be livid!

    And what a celebration...

    Lucas Joao (78 mins)

No way back for Blackburn now surely.

Rovers turn the ball over in midfield and Tyrese Fornah finds Lucas Joao in on goal.

He finds the near corner and seals the points for Reading.

Sunderland get a chance to break forward as Dennis Cirkin nods through to Jack Clarke in space on the left but the cross, sent in by Cirkin, was covered easily by Wes Foderingham.
