    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to Sky Sports: "Today was about being very patient, the game they proposed made it difficult with very little space. It was frustrating because they were waiting on that mistake to catch us on the break.

"The speed, the purpose and the courage to take more initiative was much better in the second half and then they won the game."

On Granit Xhaka coming off: "He wasn't feeling good, he was feeling sick. We have four more players with those symptoms. The good thing is that in context under the circumstances we still came here and won."

On whether there's been any distractions this week: "The whole week there's been a lot of talk about individuals and about us collectively. Mentally it was a tricky one but that's the mentality you have to have when you're at the top."

On Gabriel Jesus not scoring but still being involved: "We're feeling it for him because his work is invaluable. But this is where we are. The love that his team-mates and coaching staff have for him speaks for itself and hopefully he feels that."

On being top of the league going into the break: "Our focus is to be better everyday and we still have things to improve.

"It's been a long time since we've been in this position, it's a full transformation from the fans energy and passion that they've transmitted to these players.

"The unity from the top to every single member of the team and the staff, they [the fans] are the soul of this football club."

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Thanks to the fans for the support and the way they helped transform this club and the energy of everyone and they should enjoy it [being top of the league].

"We showed another kind of maturity today to play their game, in the first 20-30 minutes we struggled to break them down. We were much better in the second half and we had a bit more courage and took risks but also not allowing them to run."

On team spirit: "Unbelievable - without these individuals we wouldn't be in the position we are. They are growing day by day."

On Granit Xhaka: "We had a few players starting to feel sick just before kick-off. We couldn't change everyone but he could not carry and for him not to carry on is strange but we adapted and we managed to win and that's what big teams do."

On World Cup: "I would train tomorrow but unfortunately they're not here. I wish those going to the World Cup the best and they will look after themselves - I hope they enjoy it because it doesn't get better than playing for your country."

Will it disrupt flow? "I don't know, I'll touch wood and hope for the best. When everyone is back we'll assess where we are and go from there."

  12. Wolves need a goal scorerpublished at 22:07 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    Wolves 0-2 Arsenal

    Simon Stone

There is no getting away from the fact that without a goalscorer, no manager will get Wolves out of their present predicament.

Diego Costa will be available after the World Cup but who knows what Raul Jimenez's fitness will be like. He was named on the bench by Mexico in midweek but Wolves received an apology for that as Jimenez was never going to play.

Wolves have scored eight goals this season. That is three less than Everton and Nottingham Forest, the Premier League's next lowest scorers.

  13. 'If they want VAR they need to use it'published at 22:04 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal

    Wolves

Wolves manager Steve Davis speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we had good moments in the game. They had a lot of possession, we slowed them down. The shape was fantastic and hard to get through, we defended the box when we had to. We were happy at 0-0. The decision in the first half should've gone for us. He's onside and it was a foul and he was the last man so it was a goalscoring opportunity and potentially a red card. We feel hard done by because those moments are really important to us at the moment."

Would that goal change the game? "It changes the mentality even more, defending a goal that you should've had. VAR, not sure whether they use it - no point in having it if you're not going to use it. They have to decide if they want VAR and if they do they need to use it.

"We felt the way they set up, it was the best option to soak the pressure and try and counter. That was the game plan and we executed well. In the second half we conceded two goals, other than that, fantastic.

"Boubacar [Traore] was superb tonight, Dexter [Lembikisa] getting on the pitch I had no doubt he would fill in for Nelson [Semedo]."

On job he has done as interim boss: "It's been good for me and James [Collins] to put ourselves against some of the top coaches in the world. It's been a challenge but we've done a lot and we're pleased."

Is Julen Lopetegui a good appointment? "Very much so with a lot of experience in international football. He watched tonight and probably been pleased with a lot of aspects. As a fan I will be watching from the stand and hopefully get some points.

"You can see the fight, we didn't do enough in the attacking box tonight but then we didn't do enough defensively either."

  16. 'It's a new season for us after the World Cup'published at 21:58 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal

    Wolves

Wolves captain Ruben Neves speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a defeat. It's hard to keep saying the same things. We want results, we're working hard to get results but we're not getting them.

"We let them create three or four chances to score twice. We need to improve, we have a break and then we come back.

"It needs to be a new season for us, we have a new coach and hopefully things can change for us.

"We need to make sure everyone is 100% focused on the work we need to do. We still have a lot of times to change things but it needs too straight away after the World Cup.

"They're a fantastic team playing fantastic football. At the moment we need 10 chances to score one goal and that's something we need to change. It's a new season for us after the World Cup."

On Julen Lopetegui taking charge: "He will bring the best of him and the best football that he knows. Everyone is excited because he's a really good manager. But we need to make sure that everyone is 100% focused because this break is now massive for us as bottom in the table.

"We're lucky to have the break to get things together, work on things and then come back better."

    FT: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale speaking to Sky Sports: "Every win is very big for us - away from home and at home. This place is tough to come and they showed that for 45 minutes. Massive win going into break and a bit of a bumper but that means nothing really. Things will change over the break and we have to come back how we finished it.

"We had to be a bit braver and quicker and get Thomas Partey on the ball in midfield after the first half."

On his World Cup call-up: "Delighted - see what happens, I'll enjoy every minute of that regardless of the result. Hopefully we can go and win that and then come back here and see how we go."

  19. 'We have to stay calm'published at 21:53 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

    FT: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal matchwinner Martin Odegaard speaking to Sky Sports: "We had to dig deep today. The first half was difficult, they defended well. We were a bit slow but we know the quality we have and we always create chances. We stayed patient and it paid off.

"We talked about some tactical things at half-time and did better in the second half. We played the ball out wide and created some overload and got the goal which helps.

"We have to stay calm, it's a long way to the end of the season, we play every game as a final and that's all."
