It's just instinct from Jorge Grant, it's not premeditated to go down. He thinks there's a tackle coming in and it doesn't come as expected

If Robbie Neilson has seen that back, I don't believe he thinks that's a penalty.

  5. 'It should've been a penalty' - Neilsonpublished at 22:17 British Summer Time 25 August 2022

    FT: Hearts 0-1 Zurich (1-3)

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we were absolutely outstanding. Until the sending off, we were the better team, we dominated.

"We just couldn't take that moment when it came. When you get to this level you've got to take the chances, but the pleasing thing is we're getting them."

On Jorge Grant's second yellow card, Neilson adds: "If the defender goes off his feet and goes to ground and doesn't make contact on the ball, the attacker is under no obligation to move out the way. My opinion is it's a penalty, but we have to accept it."

If Hearts have their squad fully fit, they are the third best team in Scotland. But looking at the bench tonight, the worry is the size of their squad.

The long and short of it, Hearts need a right-sided centre-half. John Souttar has gone. Craig Halkett is injured.

    FT: Hearts 0-1 Zurich (1-3)

Hearts goalkeeper and captain Craig Gordon tells BBC Scotland: "It's hard to take that one. We were he better team with 11 men on the pitch. We had to take one [of the chances]."

On Jorge Grant's second yellow card: "I've not seen it back, I said to the referee he had to be 100% sure it was a dive. That more or less handed the tie to Zurich."

On being struck with a missile from the away crowd: "I don't know what it was that hit me on the back of the head. I'm all right but it shouldn't happen."

It will sting just now, since Zurich look a distinctly average side, but Hearts will have at least six games to look forward to in the Europa Conference League.

They will need to be more ruthless when on top.
