We've got a brief pause after a frantic start, as Liam Lindsay is given some treatment after appearing to cut his head.

He's not going off but comes back on with a big bandage strapped around his head and a new shirt.

  2. CLOSE!published at 5 mins

    Blackpool 0-0 Preston North End

The first real shot of the match and it falls to Preston's top scorer Emil Riis.

He beats the Blackpool defence on the right and cuts inside, but while his shot is on target it's blocked as it heads towards goal.

Blackpool won't want to keep giving Riis that kind of space and time.

    Blackpool 0-0 Preston North End

CJ Hamilton is dragged to the ground by Ben Woodburn on halfway after trying to break down the left. The referee, probably wisely, keeps his card in his pocket, despite boos from the home fans.

James Husband sends in a free kick towards the box but Preston head it away and clear the danger.

Here we go then, the referee has blown his whistle and we are up and running at Bloomfield Road.

There's just the one change for Preston today as centre-back Liam Lindsay returns to the team after recovering from injury, with Andrew Hughes missing out entirely after picking up a knock.

  7. A team in need of a boostpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

Blackpool v Preston North End (12:30 BST)

Inconsistent best sums up Blackpool's run of results over the last few months.

They come into today's match with just two wins out of their last eight. The midweek 3-1 defeat to Hull pushed them down to 21st in the league, hovering above the bottom three - albeit only six points behind their opponents in ninth.

With emotions likely to be high today, a good result against their nearest rivals is exactly the kind of confidence booster Michael Appleton's side need.

Still, the Seasiders will have to do it without striker Shayne Lavery, who failed to overturn his red card from the draw with Sheffield United last weekend.

  8. Short journey, long winless runpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 22 October 2022

Blackpool v Preston North End (12:30 BST)

    Ryan LoweImage source, Rex Features

Barely 15 miles separates neighbours Blackpool and Preston who meet in the west Lancashire derby this lunchtime.

Preston make the short distance up the road having waited 14 long years for a victory at Bloomfield Road, but knowing that this time they bring with them the best away record in the league.

The Lilywhites have four wins on the road this season – out of five wins in total – the joint highest in the league.

Their 2-0 win over Huddersfield last weekend, which moved them up to ninth, was also remarkably their 10th clean sheet of the campaign, making them defensively the hardest team in the league to break down.

Good afternoon and thanks for joining us for another Saturday of football from across the EFL.

We've got a packed day of fixtures to bring you but begin with an early lunchtime kick off in the Championship, and it's a small matter of a Lancastrian derby.

Blackpool host neighbours Preston North End at Bloomfield Road and seeing as it's only 15 minutes until the match gets under way, let's have a look at how the teams stack up against each other.
