"We put a lot of young players out there on the pitch, a lot of young players that we believe in, and I thought they performed well. I thought we were a little unlucky not to get anything from the game.
"Matteo Joseph was very good on the day and unlucky when he got through on goal. Sonny Perkins also played really well, we played him in a few different roles, but I thought he was really intelligent and was good defensively.
"We like our young guys and you can't mimic, even in the under 21s, the intensity of these games. Overall good performances from every guy on the pitch."

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "I feel good. After the first 10 minutes on the pitch my heart was racing. I was just glad to be back out there after seven weeks of hard work to try and push for the World Cup squad and just be back fit in general.
"It is funny, obviously the operation I had is between eight and 12 weeks and eight weeks is bang on the first game of the World Cup. It was a tough decision but one I am happy I made now."
On Thursday's World Cup announcement: "I'll be nervous but if it is a positive call I will be very happy. I feel like I have worked very hard to get to this moment. If it happens I will be very happy."

"Stefan Ortega was man of the match. That shows how good Chelsea are. I don't deny he was perfect. We see him every day, he's an incredible keeper. He's an incredible human being. He played three games lately and he's been exceptional."
On Kalvin Phillips' return: "Important. Gareth [Southgate] knows him. That's important. A lot of days to go until the first game of the World Cup. He's ready."
On Rico Lewis: "He played exceptional, 17 years old against Chelsea. The players they have, he played so good. His experience - how to play against Pulisic or Ziyech or Havertz or Mount. Incredible experience. The future will be bright."

Chelsea boss Graham Potter to Sky Sports: "A lot to like. We created some big chances and attacked well. We weren't perfect, but did a lot right in the game. It was a pleasing performance, a step forward in how we want to play.
"I'm disappointed with the result but happy with the performance.
"We had some big chances. You won't get many bigger ones here. We had big courage to try to play out. The boys showed quality and courage. I liked a lot of what we did today.
"We could have done better for their goals. The wall could do better. It's those fine details you can improve but performance-wise I'm really happy.
"Lewis Hall did brilliantly. Fantastic performance. Great quality and effort. He took responsibility. Putting the ball in the net is the hardest thing and that's all he didn't do today.
"I'm always concerned when we don't get results. Our performances haven't been what we wanted in the last couple of games. But today is what we wanted the team to look like. We looked like a good team."

"Without playing for a while, it's nervewrecking stepping onto the pitch for one of my first appearances for the club. It felt good.
"[It's been] difficult. When I first found out I needed the operation everything went out the window. I didn't feel great about the situation. But after a couple of days I always made sure I worked hard. I was always positive. I'm back fit now so hopefully have a chance.
"A couple of days after the operation my thought was to get back into the club and do as much as I could to get fit. I did more sessions than I would have done to get my fitness back."
On the World Cup: "Not so much [speaking to] Gareth [Southgate]. I spoke to the staff and physios checking on my progress.
"Anything can happen. I'm optimistic but I know with the amount of game time I've had there's always a doubt.
"I think with my injuries I've not been playing 100% because of my shoulder. Now it's sorted I can get back to what I was before. Hopefully it'll put me in good stead."
