  2. 'Always tough to get a goal against City'published at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2023

FT: West Ham 0-1 Man City

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Paul Konchesky speaking to Sky Sports: "The players executed the game plan really well. I think may be superb. Once they believed in the first-half they should be on the same pitch as Man City.

"I think in the second-half, we came out very slow and a bit lackadaisical. They end up getting a goal. It's always tough to get a goal against Man City.

"If we can stay focused for 90 minutes, we had a chance. We had chances and we was unlucky in which we probably should had a penalty. But sometimes, you don't get them and we have to move on.

On penalty claim: "Yes, it should have been given, especially where I was sitting. It looked like she pushed her down and couldn't get up, so if it was a penalty it maybe was. But we can't worry about it now - it's done and dusted. I thought my team were magnificent today.

On his aims for the second half of the season: "To keep going, go high as we can and get many points as we can. We want to be successful, so wherever it may take us this year - hopefully we can do that. I think if we can put performances like this every week, then we can go a long way as a team."

  3. 'It was a really good performance'published at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2023

FT: West Ham 0-1 Man City

    West Ham United

West Ham winger Lisa Evans, speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought it was a really good performance. Apart from the goal I thought we were solid. I think Man City didn't have that many chances in the game. We could've snuck a goal. All in all I think we're happy with the performance.

"At the end of the day we're at home, we want to be winning these games and we're unfortunate not to get a point."

On if they treated City with too much respect: "I don't think so. I think maybe we could've pressed higher. Whether it was mentality or tiredness [I don't know]. I think second half we had a lot more energy about us. Maybe we did give them too much grace, it's hard to say. All in all I thought we put in a good performance."

On their aims for the second half of the season: "I think to continue on as we've done. Paul [Konchesky]'s come in and got us well drilled. I think we just need to find the consistency, the form. We know we're more than capable of taking points off anyone this season. We've shown that in spells against Chelsea, Arsenal. I think this is the only game bar Manchester United we've not scored in.

"We're capable of scoring, from set pieces we'll always be a danger. We back ourselves and we're more than capable of beating anyone."

  4. 'We showed really good resilience'published at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2023

FT: West Ham 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor, speaking to Sky Sports: "We were very calm at half-time. We sustained a few skirmishes against us. I always thought it was a matter of time before we'd get a chance.

"There was a really good pass from Yui Hasegawa, a nice touch from Deyna Castellanos and Bunny [Khadija] Shaw then going on to score.

"I think we showed really good resilience."

On what Khadija Shaw brings to the team: "She is important because when you lose Ellen White, Georgia Stanway, Caroline Weir, they being goals to the team.

"She's the talisman at the moment with producing the goals. I thought her all-round game was excellent. She's a real asset for us at the moment."

These are the average positions of the two teams. It's interesting to see just how bunched around Yui Hasegawa (pink, 25) the West Ham players were. She was instrumental throughout the game.

  7. 'Once you're winning the momentum comes'published at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2023

FT: West Ham 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw, speaking to Sky Sports: "We wanted to score early. The first half didn't go as we wanted but we kept our composure and luckily the goal came."

On how she stays in the game as a striker: "I think it's about staying ready and being in it no matter what. It's how you stay in the game and try to attack the battle and the team. I knew the runs I wanted to make and it went in"

On Chloe Kelly's crossing: "Chloe Kelly and Lauren Hemp are two different players. Lauren likes to go 1v1. When Chloe receives a ball she likes to look up and make that bending ball. I know when she gets the ball in certain areas the runs I have to do. She's an amazing player and it's great to be playing with her"

On how the team keeps their belief: "It comes from the team as well. Whgen you win games you build confidence. It's a new team at the end of the day so we kept believing. Once you're winning and scoring games the momentum comes."

On if the Golden Boot is an aim: For the position I play it's something I look to. I try to be involved and help the team. That's one of the goals ahead.
