Just the 59 goals across the 20 games at 3pm today... a breathless start to 2023 in the English Football League.

You think that's it though? Oh no. It's a Bank Holiday tomorrow, remember! There are seven Championship games to come on Monday, with plenty of interest at the top and bottom of the table.

There are also five of the main promotion contenders across the four League One fixtures while the top-two and bottom-two in League Two also feature in the four games in that division.

    Until then, goodbye!

It's still crazily tight in the Championship. Just five points separate Millwall, in fourth, to Preston in 15th.

    Huddersfield 1-2 Luton

Great story for Reece Burke, returning from a long injury lay-off to score the winner for Luton.

Huddersfield led in the opening 45 thanks to Duane Holmes' well-taken goal, but Amari'i Bell levelled before the break and Burke's winner was a big moment for the Hatters.

Sunderland's Ross Stewart pops up with a timely equaliser to earn Tony Mowbray's side a point at struggling Blackpool.

Sam Nombe has slotted home a loose ball to give Exeter the lead against the run of play at Oxford.

Morecambe have a fifth against Burton. They had only scored nine in their 11 previous home games, just so's you know! Caleb Watts has his second of the afternoon and there's still seven or eight minutes remaining.

Ademipo Odubeko has equalised for Port Vale who have trailed since the second minute at Forest Green.

Chey Dunkley has turned one into his own net to complete a miserable day for Shrewsbury who now trail Fleetwood 3-0 at home, having played more than an hour with 10 men.

  13. goal

GOAL: Millwall 3-0 Rotherhampublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2023

    Tom Bradshaw (80 mins)

That is surely that as Millwall get their third of the afternoon with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Zian Flemming is the playmaker again breaking through the midfield before passing to Andreas Voglsammer on his left.

While Voglsammer's strike is well saved by Viktor Johansson, the ball bounces straight into the feet of Tom Bradshaw to slot home his second goal.

Wycombe have a third at Peterborough, having beaten them 3-1 earlier in the season.

It's a second for Lewis Wing, and you can see why the Chairboys faithful call him Lewis Ping, he shows superb technique to sweep a right-footed effort inches underneath the crossbar with the keeper beaten all ends up.

    Blackpool 1-1 Sunderland

    Sunderland pushing the issue now.

Amad Diallo thunders into the penalty area and drills across but no one can connect with it.

Disappointing finish after a moment to get the heart rate pumping.

    Coventry 1-1 Bristol City

How did that not go in!?

Antoine Semenyo breaks again down the right and cuts the ball back into the box to Andi Weimann who only has to slot the ball into the net.

Except Callum Doyle is there to make an excellent block to deny the Austrian right on the line. Weimann is then shown a yellow card for a hand ball.

Hartlepool are back in front against Harrogate in the game of the year so far, Mark Shelton with a fierce strike into the top corner to make it 3-2.
