    Arsenal

Arsenal captain Kim Little speaking on BBC One: "We are all aware we have not won a trophy for a few years and to win in the way we did made it more special. To be down 1-0 made it tougher but after that, we played really well and deserved our victory.

We’ve had moments where we have shown we can get to that level and it's about doing it more often. Today, we showed it against a Chelsea team that has been so dominant.

"We have got some young players, older players too and we're trying to bring that consistency. You have to be there more often to win trophies and that’s what we need to improve.

On her calm penalty: I also took a penalty against them just after the New Year and it's always difficult to take against the same team twice. It's more a psychological thing than anything else and I tried to stay as calm as possible. At the Tokyo Olympics, they gave us some breathing tedhniques and when I use them, it seems to work out.

On receiving an MBE on Friday: "It was a special day. I met Princess Anne and had a chat with her. I received my medal and it was a really nice day.

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

This was the third time Arsenal and Chelsea have faced off this season, in three different competitions.

One win for Arsenal, one win for Chelsea (in the FA Cup), and one draw (in the WSL at the Emirates).

They will meet at least once more, at Chelsea in the WSL, in the penultimate league game of the season on 21 May.

    That could be a stormer.

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

    Arsenal

Arsenal forward Caitlin Foord speaking to BBC: "It's incredible to finally win a trophy with this club - it's something special. That's what we're aiming for, winning trophies. It's worth being freezing in the champagne shower - no complaints, super happy.

"It's been four years since we won a trophy and it's well overdue. We wanted to leave everything out there and we wanted to show what we can do and we want to continue to do that."

On supporters: "They come in week in week out and for their support we want to do it for ourselves and for each other to enjoy it with them."

  8. What comes next?published at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

Manchester United's win today has left both Chelsea and Arsenal playing catch-up.

Chelsea are four points behind Marc Skinner's league leaders, while Arsenal are a huge nine points back.

Both London clubs do have two games in hand however.

The first of those come on Wednesday - Arsenal host Liverpool, Chelsea are at home to Brighton.

  9. 'Arsenal should be winning trophies'published at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

    Arsenal

Arsenal's Leah Williamson speaking to BBC One: I feel good. We had to break the chain at some point and today was that day. We kept everything exactly same despite going 1-0 down and that was the difference. We knew what we wanted to do and one goal doesn’t change that. Showed much we were dis with it, with our result.

"It meant a lot more to us. Arsenal should be winning trophies and that started again today"

  11. 'It means so much'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

    Arsenal

Arsenal defender Leah Williamson on BBC One: "We knew exactly what we wanted to do. We wanted to play at pace and put pressure on.

"It means so much after a long time without winning trophies."

  12. 'Arsenal were hungry'published at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC One

Arsenal showed hunger in everything they did and really went after it. That should give every single individual the belief that they can continue upping their levels.

They have gone toe-to-toe, if not dominated, with a Chelsea side who have dominated this competition for so many years.

  13. 'We showed what we are made of'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall on BBC One: "It's a very nice feeling and I am so happy for the team and for the players.

"It was a really tough start but the way we came back showed what we are made of. There was so much more intent today with our runs off the ball and it created a lot of situations. Those runs for the second goal with the penalty - that’s what we were mising last Sunday and we put that right today.

"These are the games we want to play. To get results creates belief. Last Sunday, we did a lot of things well but we didn’t get the result.

"It was really important to get that reward and result today and now we can be filled with belief for all the games going forward."

  15. 'They wanted it more than us'published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Emma Hayes speaking to BBC: "The blistering start killed us - we sat off when they got the first goal. The difference was between a team that has won a lot and a team that hasn't. They won the duels they were at a better intensity than us. The best team won there's no doubt. I'm disappointed with us - you can't concede three goals against a team that haven't won a lot, which they haven't domestically. They wanted it more.

"Losing so many duels in the first half. You have to win your battles and we didn't do that, they dominated. Kim Little deservedly Player of the Match. When you don't do those things sometimes you need a reality check and the better team won today.

"There was complacency today - we won a lot and they haven't and today they wanted it more than us. Simple as."

We've talked a lot about Lauren James but today it just didn't happen for her. She was largely ineffective but she will learn lessons from this defeat.

It's nice to see what it means to these players. It has been a long time for Arsenal and winners want to lift silverware.

  20. 'Blackstenius showed resilience'published at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2023

    FT: Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC One

Strikers go through tough periods but Blackstenius stuck to what she knows and when it counted she executed a goal that has led her side to victory.

She did it when it mattered and showed her resilience.
