    FT: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal captain Leah Williamson speaking to Sky Sports: "Sometimes it is harder to take when you play well, it is frustrating but we don't have time to dwell on that.

"I think when you have such high standards you are naturally disappointed but we don't have the time this week. We know what we need to work on when we go into training. I think we played well across the pitch but the final third just lacked."

On playing in midfield: "Whatever the team needs at the time, it is easier once you have done it a couple of times in a row because you get it a bit more. It was about doing what I do at the back just a bit higher."

On taking positives from the performance: "We dominated the whole game which is annoying because you don't want to drop points but you take positives from how we pinned them back."

On the title race: "It gets more and more competitive. Teams takes points off of everybody at some point and I think it will go down to the end again."

  5. 'We lacked the final quality today'published at 21:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2023

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall speaking to Sky Sports: "It was one of those days. We grew into more control in the second-half.

"We definitely deserved to win today from an opportunities standpoint but if you don't score you won't win. I can't fault the performance. We had great energy, great momentum and if we can keep that I have good feelings about this team.

"I think we had a good balance between trying to see where we could go centrally or down the wings. I think the biggest risk is trying to score when you're not organised and West Ham could have created chances.

"I don't think it was their choice to have 10 behind the ball, I think we were controlling them very well and forcing them back. I think we were lacking the final quality today and I would have been far more worried if we didn't create those opportunities."

On the pursuit of a new striker: "I think we have really good quality in the squad, the reason we needed another forward was how to deal with a hectic playing schedule in the spring. Here we have enough quality and I believe in those players. Any football team on any day can have a game where they don't score goals and that happened to be us today."

On what he said to the players after the game: "I said the performance was good and they should keep their heads up. We can't afford to dwell on it and we need to look ahead to the Conti Cup game on Wednesday against Manchester City."

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Paul Konchesky speaking to Sky Sports: "It was fantastic today; from minute one we knew we had to put in a big shift in today, playing Arsenal here. Getting a point is fantastic for us.

"It is going to be tough task but a point here is a big confidence boost for me and for the team.

"My mum said she nearly had a heart attack but it is fantastic to have a massive crowd here today and it felt like having a 12th player.

"It is a massive opportunity for me to manage this football club and I am a massive West Ham fan so it means more to me as well.

"I'd like to score more goals, we keep it out of one end we are happy but we would like to score more goals as well. We would like to be more attack-minded in some games.

"I have had to learn quite a lot quite quickly as well because every game isn't the same. I am still learning my trade at the moment but I am on my way with results like tonight.

"I obviously want to break into the top three but it is step-by-step at the moment with the process of new players and new staff. I take the team to a semi-final in the week [in the League Cup] so hopefully we can take one step further."

  10. 'We are all about fighting for each other'published at 21:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2023

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    West Ham United

West Ham centre-back Grace Fisk speaking to BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra: "So proud, playing Arsenal is going to be a tough ask. Second half was a tough 45 minutes but we stuck together and got the clean sheet.

"We are all about fighting for each other and we deserved a point today, we didn't have much of the ball but we defended for our lives and got a good result today.

"They [Arsenal] are top quality players but Konchesky said before the game we have got nothing to lose. The pressure is on them and if we nick a point or three points it will be great. They have top players but we have good players as well and we all stuck together.

"We are in tomorrow again preparing for another big game and we are desperate to get to a final and we hope everyone comes to support us again because it is a massive help.

"The fans are amazing, it was a sell-out today and we like to spend time with the fans."

  11. 'On another day we could have got all three points'published at 20:57 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2023

    FT: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    West Ham United

West Ham manager Paul Konchesky speaking to BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra: "Fantastic result, I think it is the first time we have taken a point off Arsenal. I think we could have had a penalty that would have changed the game but really proud of my side tonight.

"I think the whole back four and the goalkeeper were fantastic, we knew it was going to be hard but everyone put in a shift from the players that started, the ones that came off the bench and who were in the stands supporting the team. They were all fantastic.

"We have got a semi-final in the week against Chelsea and with this result in mind hopefully we can go one step further.

"We normally start quite badly in the second half but we were fantastic and at 0-0 you have always got a chance. We gave it a good go and maybe on another day we could have got all three points."

  12. 'I'm proud of the girls for sticking it out'published at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2023

    West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    West Ham United

West Ham goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold, speaking to Sky Sports about how hard her side had to work: "Obviously very hard. Arsenal are top and we knew that coming into this. I don't think we left our 18 yard box in the second half but that's what you have to do sometimes.

"I'm proud of the girls for sticking it out. Sometimes these games just go how it went."

On how she's personally feeling after five clean sheets in seven games: "It's a bit of team effort but personally I'm feeling well. A new keeper coach has came in and he's helped.

"I think it's just my mentality [that he's helped with], keeping focused through the 90 minutes."

I don't think the WSL is out of Arsenal's hands, the league can change so quickly. But the pressure is on with two games against Manchester City.

It is on them to bounce back.

That is massive for the morale of the West Ham team, they have really invested in the structure and shape of the squad. The strength that they showed here to manage the onslaught of pressure from Arsenal showcases the fitness of the squad as well as the mentality.
