    West Brom 0-0 Blackburn

Four changes for West Brom tonight, including a switch of goalkeeper.

Joshua Griffiths comes in between the sticks to replace David Button, who had a night to forget in the 2-0 defeat at Birmingham on Friday.

The 21-year-old makes his senior debut for the club after loan spells at Cheltenham, Lincoln and Portsmouth during which he clocked up 99 outings in the EFL.

Nathaniel Chalobah also gets his first start for the Baggies, while John Swift and Brandon Thomas-Asante are given the nod.

Blackburn are unchanged as Jon Dahl Tomasson keeps the faith with the side which drew 1-1 at Watford last time out.

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Middlesbrough

As you would expect, the atmosphere is absolutely crackling at Bramall Lane.

The Blades have brought striker Oli McBurnie back into their XI in place of injured veteran Billy Sharp.

Defender Dael Fry is in for the away side in their only change.

I hope West Brom are still smarting from Friday's defeat at Birmingham and they can't wait to get out there in front of their home supporters.

I want to see a tempo about Albion.

So far the Hatters have held firm.

It's a big ask (to catch Sheffield United) but I believe Boro can do it.

If Boro get the three points tonight to close the gap then the pressure will be on.

As a player, you have to feed off the atmosphere. Looking at the Boro following, it sends a tingle down your spine. The atmosphere here is unbelievable.

    MASSIVE goal!

Talented youngster Phil Jagielka, 40, heads home his second goal of the season.

It loops into the Town net and you'd venture new boss Neil Warnock will not appreciate that kind of defending.

First real chance of the evening goes to the home side.

Will Smallbone swings a corner in and Ben Wilmot has the run on it.

The former Watford man heads way over.

Bristol City have the first real opening of the game at Ashton Gate.

Alex Scott beats a couple of defenders and then lets fly from outside the area, but his shot goes over the crossbar.

Sheff Utd v Middlesbrough (20:00 GMT)

It's been a fantastic start to life in club management for former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.

Carrick picked up a Boro side who looked set to be in a relegation battle after a poor start to the season under former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder.

However, 11 wins in their past 15 matches have seen them rocket up the table to third.

Victory tonight would still leave them seven points behind the second-placed Blades having played a game more but it would certainly keep Paul Heckingbottom's men honest.

    Preston 0-0 Luton

Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe has made five changes from their 3-0 defeat at Burnley at the weekend.

Greg Cunningham, Brad Potts, Alvaro Fernandez, Ben Whiteman and Troy Parrott all come in to the starting Xl.

Robbie Brady, Liam Delap and Ben Woodburn are among those dropping out.

Luton manager Rob Edwards makes one alteration, with Fred Onyedinma replacing Alfie Doughty

  13. Swansea record offers Blackpool hopepublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2023

    Swansea 0-0 Blackpool

    Gareth Vincent

A glance at the league table tells the story of where things have gone wrong for Swansea City this season.

They have conceded 45 league goals - the same number as opponents Blackpool, who began tonight bottom of the pile in the Championship.

Swansea have scored 43 times - a record bettered by only four second-tier clubs, all of whom are in the current top five - but defensive vulnerability explains why Russell Martin's team have seen play-off hopes fade.

That should provide Blackpool with grounds for optimism as they look to end a 13-game winless run in the league - although it is Mick McCarthy's side who have done most of the defending in the early stages.

West Brom's upturn since Carlos Corberan took charge in October has seen the Baggies climb from the relegation zone to within touching distance of the top six.

The Spaniard has signed a new deal after interest from Premier League club Leeds, but two defeats in three have checked his side's momentum.

However, the Baggies have won their past six league games at The Hawthorns by an aggregate score of 10-0.

After going 32 league games without drawing, visitors Blackburn have shared the points in their past three Championship outings.

Stalemates against mid-table Bristol City, play-off challengers Watford and struggling Wigan have left Rovers two points below the sixth-placed Hornets.

With one win in seven and still trying to move on from a difficult transfer window, boss Jon Dahl Tomasson will be targeting a return to winning ways.

    Stoke 0-0 Huddersfield

Huddersfield have made four changes from the team that lost 1-0 at fellow strugglers Wigan on Saturday, including giving a full league debut to full-back Jaheim Headley.

Stoke have made two alterations from their 0-0 draw against Hull City.

It's one win in seven for the Potters.

Big, big game at the bottom this.

    Bristol City 0-0 Wigan

Bristol City may have won 1-0 against Norwich last time out but Nigel Pearson has freshened up his attack tonight.

Andi Weimann returns to captain the side, with Anis Mehmeti and Harry Cornick also given starts.

Weimann has two goals in his last three outings against Wigan. Mark Sykes, Sam Bell and Nahki Wells all drop out.

Two changes for the Latics, with Thelo Aasgaard and Ashley Fletcher - making the 200th appearance of his club career - back in the starting XI.

Burnley aren't quite promoted just yet but yesterday's late draw with Watford saw them extend their lead over third-placed Middlesbrough to 18 points.

Boro have won three in a row to keep some semblance of pressure up on second-placed Sheffield United but anything other than a victory for Michael Carrick's side tonight would leave them with a mountain to climb to overhaul the Blades.

Should Boro lose then Luton would go third if they win at out-of-sorts Preston.

It's 10th v ninth as West Brom host Blackburn, with Rovers winless in their past three.

Stoke, Rotherham and Cardiff in sights

The bottom three have work to do this evening after Cardiff City ended their 12-match winless run at Birmingham last night.

That result gives the Bluebirds a three-point buffer to the relegation zone.

Rotherham United lost at Reading last night so could now be pulled into the mire - and Huddersfield Town have a big chance to drag Stoke City into danger when the Terriers travel to the Bet365 Stadium.

    Stoke v Huddersfield (19:45 GMT)

    Narcis PelachImage source, Rex Features

A penny for Stoke boss Alex Neil's thoughts.

The Scot walked out on Sunderland, who he led to promotion from League One last season, to take over at Stoke in August.

Things have not really gone to plan since then and his current charges start tonight five points above the relegation zone, while the Black Cats are riding high in fifth under Tony Mowbray.

Any panic in the Potteries will be deepened should they fall to a defeat by 23rd-placed Huddersfield.

The Terriers have lured veteran boss Neil Warnock out of retirement (not sure that would have taken a huge effort but still) but he doesn't take charge until tomorrow, caretaker Narcis Pelach will look to go out with a bang.
