Burnley boss Vincent Kompany says he is amazed by his side's abilities.

The Clarets are 12 points clear at the top of the Championship and 19 points ahead of third-placed Middlesbrough.

"You never feel as good as people say you are, you always feel at threat because the opposition is looking to exploit any weakness. We don't rest on our laurels, we just continue improving," Kompany told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"They [players have] definitely amazed me. They have amazed me with their working habits.

"In terms of their attitude, they've been with the best I've ever worked with and that says a lot."

Manchester United already have the Carabao Cup in the trophy cabinet, win tonight and they are in the last eight of the FA Cup, they face Spanish side Real Betis in the Europa League last 16 (after knocking out La Liga leaders Barcelona in the last round) and are third in the Premier League.

Boss Erik ten Hag has made it perfectly clear that he will not just settle for the Carabao Cup.

Writing in the matchday programme, he says: "I'm delighted we have our first trophy together but all our efforts now must be on making sure it is not our last.

"Winning silverware can become a great habit, as a number of players in the squad already know well. Now we all have a taste of success, the aim is to make sure it is on the menu again soon.

"What perhaps pleased me the most on Sunday was to see and hear all the players saying the same thing in the dressing room. They are not happy to ease up now they won a trophy and are more determined than ever to keep winning more and more.

"We're still near the start of the process, but it is great to see the squad so invested in being a part of what is still to come."

Striker Danny Ings, who scored twice in the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend, is cup-tied having played for Aston Villa in the third round before his move to the Hammers in the January transfer window.

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is out with a fractured cheekbone and eye socket, with Vladimir Coufal also missing because of a heel injury.

League Two Grimsby are the lowest ranked side left in the FA Cup and boss Paul Hurst says his side are "huge underdogs" for their tie at Premier League strugglers Southampton.

The Mariners are looking to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 1939.

They face a Saints side who have sacked two managers this season and are bottom of the top flight.

"It would be pretty incredible if we could get through," Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside. "We're getting into real dream territory. We're going to need luck and everyone performing to their maximum.

"I think we're huge underdogs. We're the lowest ranked side left in the competition up against Premier League opposition."

Southampton

It's 20 years since Southampton last reached the FA Cup final when Gordon Strachan's side lost 1-0 to Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Southampton looked a bit flat against Leeds on Saturday. At least Saints have appointed someone, though, and the players like Ruben Selles so I am expecting more from them in weeks to come.

Their next league game is at home to relegation rivals Leicester on Saturday, so of course his focus will be on that. His problem is that defeat here could be very damaging to him.

Grimsby surprised me when they knocked Luton out in the last round and they are in mid-table in League Two so there are no distractions for them there.

More than 4,000 of their fans are travelling south for this tie and they will enjoy themselves whatever the result.

The fact the tie is at St Mary's will really help Southampton and I do think they will get through, but Grimsby have got a bit of resilience about them and I can see them staying in the tie right until the end.

Grimsby Town fans were originally banned from taking their inflatable fish mascot into the ground for the tie with Southampton.

Harry the Haddock has been an iconic inflatable symbol for Grimsby fans for more than 34 years.

The marine mascot has been fished out for major games to help fans cheer on the Mariners.

Southampton had said inflatables weren't allowed for the fifth round tie because Premier League grounds have a blanket ban on them for big matches.

They later changed their mind, netting a chance for more than 4,000 Grimsby fans to take their beloved mascots with them.

There will be a party atmosphere at Old Trafford tonight as the Manchester United fans, for the first time in almost six years, are able to celebrate their team winning a trophy after Sunday's 2-0 success over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

That was the club's first trophy since the Europa League in May 2017 under Jose Mourinho and the Red Devils are in FA Cup action tonight as they look to reach the quarter-finals for the eighth time in nine seasons.

They have won the FA Cup 12 times, not lost a home tie in this competition for eight years and have an excellent record against a West Ham side managed by their former boss David Moyes (the Hammers have only won one of their past 20 games at Old Trafford).

However, current Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says it's straight back to business for the players and celebration time is over.

“It’s our job, it is their job, so we don’t allow them to stay in the mood from Sunday," Ten Hag told the club website.

"Sunday is the history. It’s nice, memories, but if you want to perform, you have to focus on the things you have to do. You have to focus on the job. When I see the fight in the dressing room, it is not like we're satisfied.”
