The last few minutes when the ball has gone forward, Inverness haven't really cleared their lines. That doesn't help settle a side.

    Inverness CT 0-1 Kilmarnock

A first chance for Inverness to get forward. A free kick comes in and is eventually laid to Danny Devine on the edge of the box.

His fierce shot is deflected behind for a corner, but Kilmarnock defend their box stoutly.

It's all about the delivery. Kyle Vassell, right in the middle of the goal, is able to get it across the line. Liam Donnelly got the all important flick. Derek McInnes will be over the moon with that. It's a perfect start for Kilmarnock.

    Kyle Vassell

    What a start!

No idea who got the final touch.

I think it might be Inverness defender David Carson who the ball hit off after Danny Armstrong's in-swinging corner.

It might have been Kyle Vassell, though. Hard to tell.

Either way, Kilmarnock have the perfect start.

    Inverness CT v Kilmarnock (19:45)

Kilmarnock might be a league above Inverness, who are sixth in the Championship, but I suspect this will be a tight game.

They played four times in the second tier last season, with Caley Thistle winning three of those games.

Three of the meetings finished 1-0, and the other was 2-1.

Inverness assistant manager Scott Kellacher has had a time of it recently.

Kellacher was rushed to hospital, where it was discovered he was suffering from Viral Encephalitis - a potentially fatal inflammation of the brain.

This is the story of his return.

  13. Killie imagine going all the way - McInnespublished at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2023

    Inverness CT v Kilmarnock (19:45)

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes says his team are good enough to become the first side in the club's history to reach the semi-finals in both domestic cup competitions.

"Any time you enter a cup competition, particularly as a Premiership team, you've got to try and see the bigger picture and imagine you going all the way. You're going to face tough opponents and tough challenges on the way.

"Winning at Tannadice last time round wasn't easy and coming up here is going to be a tough challenge as well, but equally, we want to make it a tough game for Inverness.

"I think both teams would have been pretty happy with the draw, and the incentive there's for both teams. For my team, we want to make sure we take the opportunity.

"We're good enough to win this. We know we need to get on top of Inverness. They've got a lot of good players that have been around the block."

When asked if he can pinpoint why his side has struggled away from home in the league, but not in cup competitions, he says: "No I can't, but I need to try and find out why. The only cup game we've lost has been against Celtic at Hampden who went on to win it."

  14. Caley will have to be at best, says Doddspublished at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2023

    Inverness CT v Kilmarnock (19:45)

Inverness manager Billy Dodds says his team have a "real chance" of progressing to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup over Kilmarnock tonight.

He tells BBC Scotland: "It's a tough game tonight, we're up against Premiership opposition but we're going to relish it.

"I just want him [Cameron Harper] to get on the ball. He's excellent. You can see with his goal against Dundee that he's technically very good. For Cammy, it's to make sure he gets forward and becomes a threat for Kilmarnock. We have to ask them questions and he's a big part of that.

"We'll need an all-round team display to get anything from this game. We want to progress in the tie, we've a real chance to do so, and we're looking forward to the match.

"[Kilmarnock are] hard-working, organised. They're a threat at set-pieces. I know what Derek brings, I know what his teams bring and we'll have to be at our very best to beat them."
