Falkirk came right back into the game and got a deserved leveller from the spot when Callumn Morrison, who was terrific all evening, rifled in.

Ayr started really brightly in the game, and so did their danger man Dip Akinyemi.

Falkirk's Stephen McGinn tells BBC Scotland: "First of all I'm just delighted to win that game. This year we've had great draws and we wanted to make the most of it.

"Us and Inverness, that's the draw we wanted. We felt we owed our fans one. We didn't want to keep losing big games."

The last five times Celtic and Rangers been in the same Scottish Cup semi-final draw, they've been drawn together.

There hasn't been an Old Firm final in this tournament since 2002.

Falkirk manager John McGlynn tells BBC Scotland: "That was amazing. Absolutely amazing. We've done it the hard way.

"I'm delighted with the character of the team. It took us about 30 minutes to get in the game. We started the second half really well.

"We're delighted we're in the semi-finals. We've managed to stay away from Celtic and Rangers."

Falkirk's Kai Kennedy tells BBC Scotland: "It's the best draw we could've got, everybody knows that. It's a great chance to get to the final."

Falkirk's Callumn Morrison tells BBC Scotland: "That's the tie we wanted, Inverness will be the same."

A lower-league side will be in the Scottish Cup final. Guaranteed.
