FT: West Bromwich Albion 1-2 Sunderland

That's it from me today, but there's plenty more live football to follow on the BBC Sport website and app, including action from the Premier League and an FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Brighton.

Our next live text coverage from the Championship is on Monday. Third meets fourth as Luton host Middlesbrough.

    Thanks for your company.

Sunderland's remaining fixtures are at home to Watford and away at Preston, while Albion are still to face Sheffield United, Norwich and Swansea.

If you're going to find a good time to string a couple of wins together, well right about now would be it.

After that initial spell at the start of the game when Albion played well, Sunderland took over the game.

They had more possession and drove Albion back.

But Albion went 1-0 up and then you need to be able to be strong and hold on. They have not created enough in the second half.

As mentioned earlier, West Bromwich Albion have a game in hand on many of the teams around them.

They next go to Bramall Lane on Wednesday for a showdown with Sheffield United, who could seal automatic promotion that night.

    And that is it.

A huge, huge win for Sunderland, having been a goal down at half-time, takes them into the top six.

Albion's first home defeat since the end of October could not have come at a worse time.

It opens up for Taylor Gardner-Hickman 25 yards out but the Albion player sends his shot wide.

    That should be it.

Sunderland have the ball deep in Albion territory and will surely look to keep it there for as many of the closing seconds as possible.

Mo Faal finds himself all alone in the Sunderland box and tries to cushion a volley towards goal, but it's not a good connection and the ball dribbles into the arms of the Sunderland goalkeeper.

That’s well and truly changed the mood at The Hawthorns.

Is this going to be repeat of what happened at the Stadium of Light in this same fixture back in December when the hosts also led (also to a first-half penalty) - and ended up getting beaten 2-1?

Sunderland's early second-half leveller quietened the Albion fans and woke up the visiting Wearside horde.

And, after Dennis Cirkin’s superb second, there’s only one set of supporters who are singing now.

The play-off picture changes again - now it's Sunderland who are in the top six.

West Brom substitute Taylor Gardner-Hickman, recently on for Okay Yokuslu, tries to find an immediate response but his long-range shot flies just wide.

That's a disaster for Albion from being 1-0 up.

The left-back (Dennis Cirkin) has got up there again. There's no emotion [on the sidelines] from Tony Mowbray.

    Dennis Cirkin

It's Dennis Cirkin with his second of the game and it's massive for Sunderland. It's absolutely massive.

Some neat passing gets Sunderland into the Albion box and Cirkin pokes the ball past Alex Palmer with his left foot.

Sunderland captain Lynden Gooch is booked for fouling Karlan Grant, who is then removed from the action by West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan.

West Bromwich Albion have the ball in the net with a thunderous Okay Yokuslu shot, but a flag is up to rule it out because the ball had drifted out of play before the cross went back into the Sunderland box.

Sunderland's Luke O'Nien, who gave away a first-half penalty, is booked for fouling the onrushing Jayson Molumby 35 yards from goal.

Okay Yokuslu heads the set-piece delivery well over the bar.

The visitors have also brought on Alex Pritchard for the final stages, replacing Joe Gelhardt.

Sunderland waste their best opportunities of the half to go in front.

The visitors had five attackers against two defenders at one stage!

Then Alex Palmer makes a good save from a long-range shot and Jack Clarke sends the follow-up narrowly wide from the angle.
