  1. goal

    Olivier Ntcham (67 mins)

    Swansea celebrateImage source, Getty Images

West Brom give Olivier Ntcham too much freedom on the ball just on the edge of the box and the Swansea midfielder pulls the trigger and the ball flies past Alex Palmer in goal, who is frozen to his line, and the ball dips into the corner of the net.

The Baggies hopes of a top-six finish are hanging on by a thread.

    Literally .... a thread.

    Middlesbrough 1-1 Coventry

Middlesbrough starting to impose themselves on this game.

Riley McGree sweeps a shot at goal which sees the Championship's goalkeeper of the season Ben Wilson equal to it.

Coventry need to reset themselves and stem the flow because this is getting a bit nervy.

Mark Robins' side might well rue that late equaliser, because they were so in control in the opening 45.

They need a point and they have it. Blackburn's equaliser puts them into fifth.

    What a mad minute!

Sunderland sneak into a play-off spot as it stands. Millwall drop out.

What next?! Plenty more twists, I imagine.

Ben Brereton Diaz with a chance to put Blackburn ahead!!! And he hits the inside of the post!

Almost immediately after bringing his side level, Brereton Diaz is through and beats Long but not the far post.

The rebound falls for Tyrhys Dolan, but his effort is just beyond the other post.

    Agonising!

    Norwich 0-1 Blackpool

    Poor old Teemu Pukki.

The Norwich striker is getting pretty good service in his final game as a Canary but he hasn't been able to score yet.

He's whacked the post but already relegated Blackpool are keeping him in check.

  6. goal

GOAL: Preston 0-2 Sunderlandpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Alex Pritchard (61 mins)

    Inch-perfect!

Sunderland come forward with menace down their left and the ball is played to sub Alex Pritchard 20 yards out.

He shapes like he's going to go for the near post but whips his shot into the other corner.

    Another beauty!

Ben Brereton Diaz with a moment of magic for Blackburn!

The Chile international, in what may be his final Rovers game, finds the corner with a lovely curling shot after the ball breaks loose on the edge of the box.

Brilliant response from Blackburn from 3-1 down. Could they yet sneak into that top six?

    Swansea 1-2 West Brom

West Brom trying to hold on to this lead now and sitting back.

But they are inviting pressure from Swansea who are more than capable of finding the back of the net.

    This is so tense.

    Preston 0-1 Sunderland

    Preston are not rolling over!

Anthony Patterson makes a great stop to shovel Patrick Bauer's header from a corner off the line and then Jack Clarke volleys clear as the home side look to bundle in the rebound.

Manchester City loanee James McAtee signs off his spell with the Blades with a goal.

He's had a great season with the promotion-winners.

The champions are signing off in style.

A free-kick inside the D and Scott Twine is devastating as he finds the corner of the Cardiff net.

An astute signing by Vincent Kompany.

  12. goal

GOAL: QPR 0-2 Bristol Citypublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Sam Bell (55 mins)

Two goals now for Bristol City as QPR's end of season charge seems to run out of steam with safety secured.

Sam Bell puts away a lovely Joe Williams delivery to double the lead.

    Millwall 3-2 Blackburn

Blackburn's chances of making the play-offs have actually receded since Joe Rankin-Costello's goal.

Those West Brom and Sunderland strikes have done to that, but they have made Millwall extremely nervous.

  14. goal

GOAL: Preston 0-1 Sunderlandpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Amad Diallo (55 mins)

    Hold on to your hats!

Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo decides the passing stuff isn't working for his side so just fires an absolute rocket into the back of the net from 22 yards.

It won't be enough for a play-off spot as it stands but it puts the pressure on Millwall and Coventry.

    Sumptuous strike.

  15. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Middlesbrough 1-1 Coventry

Coventry's one-point required task for the play-offs is currently on course but their hosts Middlesbrough are a 'second-half team' - often saving their best for the second period, and already possess more menace than they did in the opening 45.

Ryan Giles' teasing left foot cross was just about coaxed away from danger by Kyle McFadzean.

    Key touch.

Sunderland are chucking the lot at this now.

Pierre Ekwah is in after some more intricate build-up play but again Freddie Woodman is off his line to keep it goalless.

    Millwall 3-2 Blackburn

With West Brom now winning in South Wales, a Blackburn goal would push the Baggies into the top six at Millwall's expense - on goals scored.

    Tense!

Scrappy play inside the Swansea box with shots being blocked and deflected.

Semi Ajayi says, 'I've had enough of this', and thumps the ball from just outside the six yard area into the back of the net.

West Brom take the lead but they need help elsewhere if they're going to finish in the top six.

Josh Koroma takes a pass from Brahima Diarra, who pinched the ball from goalkeeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke from just inside the box.

He then curls a low shot into the bottom right corner. Great strike.

Deadlock broken. Huddersfield lead relegated Reading.
