Reporting from Naples
Football in Naples is almost like a religious experience.
There’s a street in the city famous for selling Christmas nativity scenes all year round. But now, all the stores are selling figurines of the football players instead.
Virgilio has been doing this job for four generations. He unveils a life-size nativity set - but instead of Jesus, Mary and the three wise men, it’s the Napoli team.
“It took me a month and a half to complete it,” he says proudly. “I even had to work nights. But this is Napoli’s moment, we’re about to win the league…and what better way to celebrate than to pop a bottle of champagne with the entire Napoli football team in a nativity scene?”
Napoli 0-0 Salernitana
Napoli had 80% of the ball in the first half, nine shots, three on target. Salernitana only had one half-chance, a header over the bar.
Napoli 0-0 Salernitana
Napoli fans still await their moment.
