Man Utd v Man City (18:45 BST)

    • Manchester United have kept eight home clean sheets in the Women’s Super League this season, with no side ever keeping nine on home soil in a single season in WSL history before.
    • Both Man Utd and Man City will finish in the top-four of the WSL this season for a fourth consecutive season, with Arsenal and Chelsea also doing so. The Red Devils have won just three of their 20 games across those other three teams in the last four seasons (D5 L12), with 75% of their WSL defeats coming against either Arsenal, Chelsea or Man City.
    • Manchester City have lost their last two away WSL games, losing 2-1 in both to Arsenal and Liverpool. They have never lost three in a row on the road in their entire WSL history.
    • Manchester City’s Chloe Kelly has assisted a goal in each of her last four WSL appearances and is looking to becoming only the second player in WSL history to assist a goal in five appearances in a row, after Beth Mead in October/November 2018 for Arsenal.
    • Leah Galton has been involved in 14 WSL goals for Man Utd this season (10 goals, 4 assists), including five in her last four games (4 goals, 1 assist). Only Ella Toone in 2021-22 (15 – 7 goals, 8 assists) has ever been involved in more goals in a WSL season for the Red Devils.

There is no hiding from the fact that this is a huge game for both sides - it would be even if the WSL title wasn't on the line.

It's no surprise then that Manchester United boss Marc Skinner has made no attempt to play it down - what would be the point!?

“It’s huge,” Skinner said. “Manchester City want to win it, we want to win it, both sets of fans want to win it and the players want to win it.

“For us, it’s huge. We know how big it is but the reality is that we have just played a big game, so we are going to play it with the same mindset that we play any game.

“It’s a great penultimate weekend for women’s football and that’s as the purist in me and as a person that loves women’s football. It’s a massive weekend and it can be sold like that.”

Back to Leigh Sports Village and the atmosphere is really starting to build.

After defeat in the FA Cup final last weekend, United's fans will be hoping it isn't back-to-back weekends of disappointment.

Good evening from a beautiful sunny Leigh Sports Village!

Fans were basking in the sunshine outside the pub which is just next to the ground when I arrived and people arrived into the ground nice and early to soak up the sun and the atmosphere.

Both teams are now out on the pitch warming up and there were definitely some boos when Manchester City jogged out to start their warm-up.

Can City put paid to any hopes their neighbours have of winning their first ever WSL title? Or will Marc Skinner's side take it down to the last day of the season?

    We're about to find out.

Marc Skinner has opted to make no changes to the Manchester United side that lost the FA Cup final to Chelsea last time out.

Katie Zelem and Hayley Ladd start in midfield while Nikita Parris, Ella Toone and Leah Galton get the nod with Alessia Russo up top.

Starting XI: Earps, Batlle, Le Tissier, Turner, Blundell, Zelem, Ladd, Parris, Toone, Galton, Russo

Subs: Baggaley, Riviere, Tounkara, Boe Risa, Cascarino, Naalsund, Garcia, Thomas, Williams

Gareth Taylor's Manchester City have not played since 7 May when they were stunned 2-1 by Liverpool.

He makes just one change to that side and it's in defence as Leila Ouahabi steps in for Kerstin Casparij.

Bunny Shaw starts, flanked by Chloe Kelly and Lauren Hemp while Steph Houghton and Alex Greenwood pair up at the back.

Starting XI: Roebuck, Ouahabi, Houghton, Greenwood, Hasegawa, Angeldahl, Kelly, Coombs, Hemp, Shaw

Subs: Casparij, Keating, Castellanos, Raso, Dahou

  12. Title on the line...published at 18:15 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

Man Utd v Man City (18:45 BST)

We have had a brilliant battle for the WSL crown this season but by 21:00 BST it could be over...

After Chelsea's win over Arsenal earlier today, nothing less than a win will do for Manchester United if they want to take the title race into the final weekend.

Standing in their way are Manchester City. It's not all about denying their rivals the trophy, though. They arrive at Leigh Sports Village needing three points to keep their top-three hopes alive.

  13. Don't go anywhere...published at 17:17 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

The main event is yet to come.

We're pausing for a bit but will be back for the Manchester derby coverage, which starts at 18:15.

Remember, if United fail to win, it'll be party time for Chelsea.

    See you in a bit.

  14. Leicester rue missed chancespublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

The way I would sum that game up is to say a missed opportunity for Leicester.

They had all the chances and the ball early on and should have made them pay. They didn't and then West Ham who took their chances, skilfully saw out the game.

Given the fact that Reading will need to beat a Chelsea side who may well be still waiting for their title, it feels unlikely that this game will be costly.

But they had a chance to make sure and they didn't.

No, it all came too late for Leicester.

But what an ending! A first win of 2023 for West Ham, while Leicester must do battle with Reading on the final day to avoid relegation.
