Obvious statement but Danielle van de Donk is a huge loss for the Netherlands in midfield, they simply cannot get in the game.

No players from either sides’ subs bench is warming up yet which I think is surprising for the Dutch in particular.

Andries Jonker cannot see much more surely before he has to try and switch things up.

Sherida Spitse pings one over to Lineth Beerensteyn but she can't keep it in play.

That long ball is on repeat from the Netherlands...

Another Spain attack is cleared by Sherida Spitse but Jackie Groenen then sends it straight up field where Irene Paredes can collect under no pressure.

Spain go direct themselves but Esther Gonzalez knows she's offside and lets it run through to Daphne van Domselaar.

Jackie Groenen does well to push Teresa Abelleira wide and prevent a shot in the box. Stefanie van der Gragt comes across to help her out and concedes a corner which is dealt with by the Dutch defence.

Jackie Groenen robs it off Aitana Bonmati and lays it off to Damaris Egurrola.

But Damaris' pass through to Lieke Martens is a poor one and it gifts the ball straight back to Spain.

Spain's high pressing is paying off. It falls to Mariona Caldentey about 25 yards out and she has a pop at goal but it's comfortable for the Dutch goalkeeper.

Ona Batlle isn't letting anyone breathe on her left-hand side. She wins the ball back twice in as many minutes as Spain then win a corner off Esmee Brugts.

Spain almost do so immediately!

Straight from kick-off, Esther Gonzalez creates space for herself on the edge of the box and whips it dangerously close, past Daphne van Domselaar's left post. Ooft!

Off we go again for the second half. Can Spain finally break the Netherlands down or will the Oranje respond?

Great first half performance this from Spain. There were lots of question marks about how they’d start this game given what happened against Japan in their third and final group game.

But they have dominated completely – no goal though, and that will be the only thing that will disappoint Jorge Vilda and his players at half time.

For Andries Jonker, he needs so much more out of his players. Can they get close to that first half performance they put in against the USA here?

The Dutch fans around us are relieved, but want a lot more intensity from their team in the second half. Lieke Martens hasn’t had the impact she has managed so far at the World Cup.

The Netherlands have not had a shot on target so far in this game.

Meanwhile, Spain have had 12 efforts on goal, including three on target - as well as hitting the post twice.

Eight of those shots have been taken inside the box, with Esther Gonzalez having three efforts.

It's worth noting there was a 5.6 magnitude earthquake in Wellington earlier this morning.

It was only felt in some parts of the city so it would be interesting to know whether the Spain or Netherlands players noticed it.

There was no issues with kick-off - it's all gone ahead as planned - and there's a decent crowd in the stadium.

The Netherlands have held on until half-time. Spain have had some big chances, including a disallowed goal for offside.

Ona Batlle has really burst into life. She plays a slick one-two on the left and cuts inside. She finds Esther Gonzalez but the Dutch defence react quickly to gather around the striker and push her wide, preventing a shot.

Lineth Beerensteyn is played in behind by Jill Roord on the right, the flag stays down as she pulls it back to Lieke Martens but as she shoots, the whistle goes for offside.

Oihane Hernandez picks out Esther Gonzalez and she turns sharply on the edge of the box. She almost gets a shot off until Stefanie van der Gragt gets the block in.
