    England

England goalscorer Alessia Russo speaking to Radio 5 Live: "Incredible. We have speaking about how when we were little kids we were dreaming of playing at World Cups. To take it to the final and have a chance to compete for the trophy is everything you dream about.

"I think that [cool headedness and calm] comes from us as a group and Sarina. We know what we expect from each other and the standards that we demand.

"We put in the work on the training pitch and hopefully when we go out on the pitch we play like we know we can.

On Lauren Hemp's performances: "I love playing with Hempo. First of all we have such a nice relationship off the pitch. I think we know how to get the best out of each other and she's brilliant.

"Lightening quick, composed in the box, and you saw that quality tonight.

On the crowd: "When they scored tonight the noise was crazy. That is why Hempo's goal was so important, it switched the momentum back at a crucial time.

"That's football. You're going to come up against teams like this in their home country. What they have done in this World Cup, as a whole with New Zealand, is incredible!"

Simon: Shout out to every female player who in the 70s, 80s and 90s trained and played with no crowds, no recognition or investment dreaming of a day when millions of people would watch England reach a World Cup-Final. So many amazing woman who led the way!

Martin: A first World Cup Final on foreign soil EVER for a senior England team. Whatever happens on Sunday, the Lionesses have already made history and Sarina Wiegman deserves an honorary damehood.

  10. 'Out of superlatives for Sarina Wiegman'

    FT: Australia 1-3 England

    Izzy Christiansen

Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sarina Wiegman addresses the England squad after their win.

To be honest I'm out of superlatives to describe Sarina Wiegman.

To come in and change the culture, instil a winning mentality, to create a brand of football that is pragmatic, interesting, lets the talent flourish.

We saw in the starting XI tonight that she had all of her best players on the pitch, some managers struggle to find ways to get the best out of their best players.

You've just seen another masterclass again from Sarina this evening.

  11. 'It's like I'm living a fairy tale or something'

    FT: Australia 1-3 England

    England

    Sarina Wiegman celebrates win

England manager Sarina Wiegman speaking to BBC One: "We achieved the final! Unbelievable, it feels like we won the whole thing but we didn't. An away game at this incredible stadium, it was a hard game but again, we found a way to win.

"We scored three goals, in this team there is ruthlessness, up front and defence. We really want to win. We stick together and we stick to the plan and it worked again."

On Australia: "They've done an incredible job, really grew into the tournament. They had some set backs too and they had to win that last group stage game. They started playing better and Sam Kerr came back. We saw today why she's so important to the team. What a performance from them."

On becoming the first coach to reach two World Cup finals with two different countries: "I don't know! The chance that as a coach you make it to two finals is really special, we made it to four already - it's like I'm living a fairy tale or something?"

  12. Post update

    FT: Australia 1-3 England

There have been some epic England ties recently but this might be another level.

The Lionesses had everything today, pace, power, intelligence. And, in a World Cup semi-final too!

Andre: Could easily go down as one of the best England performances of all time (men or women). The crowd, the pressure, the opponent. Hemp with the assist - that would be called special if Messi did it. Every player stepped up and made it count.

Peter: What a result and an inspiration to girls up and down the country, and anyone else kicking a ball for that matter. England in a World Cup final. Never thought I'd be saying that in my lifetime. Roll on Sunday! Bring it home Lionesses!

Jel: Does that go down as the best performance by a senior England team (male or female) in a major competition? Composed.

  14. 'Lauren Hemp has shown the top quality player she is'

    FT: Australia 1-3 England

    Izzy Christiansen

Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Lauren Hemp points her hand in the air after scoring the second goal.

Lauren Hemp has played such a different role this tournament.

Last year at the Euros she played on the left of a three, where she is used to playing for her club Man City.

She then was taken out of the squad for a bit earlier this year, and I think that time away from the team gave her even more hunger.

It has proved terrific management from Sarina Wiegman.

This Lauren Hemp we have seen tonight and all tournament, is of the highest quality. And to do so in a semi-final of a World Cup tonight shows the top quality player she is.

  15. Post update

    FT: Australia 1-3 England

Anyone else about to buy a Lauren Hemp shirt?

  16. 'Russo and Hemp are the two hardest working forwards'

    FT: Australia 1-3 England

    Jonas Eidevall

    Arsenal manager on BBC One

Russo and Hemp pat each other on the back.

Alessia Russo is a great player and she's a great person and personality.

I think when you see her and Lauren Hemp play together, they are not only good with the ball and with their movement, they are so hard working.

I think the two hardest working forward players that we have in this World Cup.

Together they never give up. They hunt down every ball down to the last inch and it paid off two games in a row.

  17. Hemp wins Player of the Match

    FT: Australia 1-3 England

    Anna Thompson

    BBC Sport at Stadium Australia

The stadium emptied pretty quickly but plenty of Lionesses fans stuck around and showed their support when Lauren Hemp's name was announced as Player of the Match.

I can hear "It's Coming Home" being sung. We'll find out on Sunday if it really is!

Anon: What an inspiration to girls playing football at every level. Discipline, technique and togetherness, so proud of them all.

Dylan, Australia: Disappointed for Australia who were ultimately outclassed, but the impact the team has had on the country over the last few weeks can’t be underestimated. Girls and boys all around the country emulating them, shirts sold out, everyone talking about them. They may have lost but this will leave a lasting legacy on women and girls’ sport in Australia and we are all incredibly proud of them.

  19. A World Cup win? 'Why not?'

    FT: Australia 1-3 England

    England

England forward Alessia Russo speaking on BBC One: "Over the moon, incredible. We've been saying we've been dreaming of the semis but this is what it's all about, a World Cup final with this group. Buzzing.

"When they scored they got momentum, the place erupted and then Hempo's goal just flipped the momentum which was crucial so to get 3-1 you can settle a bit and see the game out.

"That's why we do what we do on the pitch is because of all our friends and family. To celebrate with them now is really special."

Can England go all the way? "Yes, why not. Spain are gong to be even tougher. Every game in this tournament has been of the highest level so we have to be ready. But we've been dreaming since we were little girls. We're excited, we'll recover and be ready."

Steve: Sat in a park in Lisbon having a cider. Shivers down my spine. Great performance but did you expect any less from this team?
