A Luton side who are winless after two Premier League matches could be ideal opposition for the Gills, who are second in League Two after five matches.

Newport are hoping to add Leicester, Leeds and Luton to the list of teams they have shocked in the cup in recent times.

The League Two side have won their past two games. This is the second of three home games in eight days.

"Hopefully Saturday's result gives supporters an incentive to come," said Exiles assistant Joe Dunne.

"It's a very difficult ask to have three home games in a week but we hope the lure of a Premier League opposition and top quality staff, top quality manager gives fans a reason to come.

"One thing we do know here is that when Rodney is rocking it's a real buzz."

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is happy to see Kevin Schade get among the goals.

The Germany international, 21, netted his first goal for the club against Crystal Palace.

"In training and friendlies, he's been more and more dangerous, scoring more and more goals, so we were just waiting for it to come," Frank said.

"I'm so pleased for him, so pleased for us, because it's important that we have different goal threats."

Blackpool haven’t faced Wolves since January 2015 in the Championship, with Wolves winning 2-0.

The Tangerines have won just two of their last 20 games against Wolves (D5 L13).

Speaking ahead of the match, Blackpool boss Neil Critchley said: "They [Wolves] have got quality players, we played them in pre-season. We know the quality they have got in their squad.

"Obviously a new manager [Gary O'Neil], it will be quite hard to prepare for because you're not quite certain of the team that they're going to pick but we have to concentrate on us and we have to concentrate on what we need to do and improve."

Wolves secured their first Premier League win of the season against Everton thanks to an 88th minute winner from Sasa Kalajdzic.

The six foot seven Austrian striker suffered an ACL injury on his debut back in September last year and has spent the following 11 months recovering in a bid to return to the side.

After scoring against Everton, Kalajdzic said: "I just wanted to score and that’s what happened. I have no idea what happened. I just saw that it had gone in and I didn’t care.

“It was just amazing. Scoring in the last minute or scoring a winning goal is always a great feeling and the way things have gone for me during the last 12 months and the way things are going right now I’m just happy.

"Even if it’s just the beginning, but just to get confidence, because when a team is getting sharper and getting better, I profit from that as well, so I’m happy for the team."

Swansea boss Michael Duff says "the gap to the Premier League is getting bigger and bigger".

Duff left League One Barnsley for the Championship side this summer.

“You look at Burnley, they were promoted with 100 points last season yet they are instantly one of the three favourites for relegation," he said.

“It shows how big the gap between the levels is, and it’s becoming a bit like it used to be years ago where there were big gaps between the division, but now it is due to finances.

“But it is an opportunity, it is a challenge and a chance to continue to work on certain things."

Andoni Iraola is hoping for a first win in charge of Bournemouth.

The Spaniard has overseen a draw with West Ham and defeats by Tottenham and Liverpool.

But his side have seven players out injured.

"I don't expect any recovered players for Swansea," he said. "It will be tough also for Brentford [on Saturday].

"We need the effort from everyone this week. I think it will be tough to recover the injured players so we need the ones we have to give everything they have.

"Then we will have some time to rest with the national team break, but we need to push in these two games we have this week.

"Cup competitions are always tough, especially when you play away. Swansea are a good team, but we want to win the game obviously. We will go with the aim of playing in the next round."

Plymouth are looking to reach the third round of the League Cup for the first time since 2007-08, with the Pilgrims going out at this stage of the competition five times since then.

Plymouth assistant manager Mark Hughes said ahead of the match: “I can imagine they [Palace] will make changes but they are a Premier League team with a really good squad.

"It will be a chance for us to utilise ours and get some lads game time, like the last round. They all went with the right frame of mind and I thought we were really good.

"We back any of our lads when they play. We will be out there on the pitch looking to get into the next round."

Crystal Palace have never won the EFL Cup, their best finish in the competition is reaching the semi-finals in 2011-12.

However, Palace boss Roy Hodgson could be aiming to change that.

He said: “At Palace, in all the time I’ve been here, we haven’t placed too much focus on cup games. Certainly we would like to give the Carabao Cup a run for its money.

“It certainly won’t be like it’s been on certain occasions during my time at the club, where surviving in the Premier League has been so far and away the only thing we can put our minds to that we’ve virtually rested anyone who might be needed for the next game."

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou seems to have closed the door on a comeback for Tanguy Ndombele.

Giovani lo Celso is back in the picture after 18 months - but Ndombele, who won Serie A with Napoli last season during a loan spell, is unlikely to join him.

Former captain Hugo Lloris, Djed Spence, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga and Sergio Reguilon have not been involved this season.

Postecoglou said: "Tanguy is in a boat with a few other guys. I said the other day that we've got five or six players more than we can name on a list.

"All these things come down to decisions that people make, whether it's individual players, whether it's myself.

"I'm sure this week those kind of things will work themselves out. Tanguy's still training, he's working hard at training, but that midfield area, we're going really well at the minute.

"You saw the guys who started, [Oliver] Skippy's been really good, Pierre [Emile Hojbjerg] and Gio have been training well.

"It's been pretty competitive in that area. I think this week a lot of those things I expect to get resolved."

Fulham boss Marco Silva won't be pitchside today as he serves a suspension for picking up three yellow cards this season already.

"Yes [it is harsh] but I understand what it is," Silva said.

"This is the decision and I am here to respect the decision even though sometimes they are difficult to understand. I have to understand and try to change some things that they want me to change.

"I know my feelings and I know the feelings of everyone in this football club about all the situations that has happened in the last three weeks and my feeling is not good.

"My concern is that I've finished two games this season with 10 men, this is a concern for me and against Brentford it was a clear and obvious mistake from the referee which put us in a position to play with 10 men, and the way Calvin [Bassey] was booked from a goal kick was impossible for us to understand how."
