Kim Thanh has been superb. She's constantly alert to the threats the USA pose. For a goalkeeper who is not big in stature, she's made some big saves, including the penalty.

Thanks to Sophia Smith, USA are in control of this game.

USA substitutes line up at the side of the tunnel to applaud their team-mates as they head for the dressing room at half-time. Seventeen attempts, two goals and one missed penalty.

Vietnam are giving this everything but there is still a long way to go. They've hardly ventured outside their own half.

At half time of that infamous USA v Thailand game, it was 3-0 at half time before the Americans scored ten after the break.

Vietnam will have to keep working hard to avoid a simialr fate. They have been tenacious, but the USA could have had five or six in that first half had they been clinical.

The Cesky family have travelled from Raleigh in North Carolina to Australia for the World Cup.

The four sisters are Elissa, Natalia, Vanessa and Olivia and range from eight to 16-years-old. They are big time supporters of Team USA and all play soccer.

They're not at today's match in Auckland, and are soaking up the atmosphere at the fan festival in Sydney instead.

Loving the way the referee announces these decisions to the crowd but that was a very lengthy VAR check.

VAR is checking this offside, and taking quite some time about it too...

USA are absolutely banging on the Vietnam door for a second goal before half time.

And they think they have it as Sophia Smith turns home a strike with the keeper stranded, following yet another dangerous deep cross by Emily Fox...

However, Alex Morgan was offside in the build-up as she challenged for the initial header, from which the loose ball fell to Smith.

Another corner, Sophia Smith's cross is deflected behind.

From it, Lindsay Horan is able to slam a loose ball towards goal, however it is once again blocked at the last second.

Vietnam continue to frustrate the mighty USA.

That will sting for USA. They are leading, but it has not been the dominant statement we expected.

A free kick into the area by Andi Sullivan comes to nothing and Vietnam are almost able to launch a counter.

Poor penalty by Morgan, straight down the middle, and Kim Tranh saves with her legs before the loose ball is cleared and the keeper is engulfed by her team mates.
