  1. 'No risk of a penalty, good goalkeeping'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 22 July 2023

    Denmark 0-0 China

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

A committed challenge from both players, but the keeper certainly caught Madsen there on the follow through.

Excellent goalkeeping there from Xu Huan, no risk of a penalty.

That's what you get when you try to challenge a keeper inside their six-yard box!

    Denmark 0-0 China

China's goalkeeper Xu Huan clatters into Rikke Madsen. If the keeper had got that wrong in any way she would have given us our customary penalty, but Xu just about stays on the right side of legal and got just about enough of the ball with the punch.

I think she forgot she was playing in defence. Often plays up front and scores a lot of goals.

Thankfully for Wang Shanshan it's only a corner for Denmark.

Almost a disaster for Wang Shanshan of China as inside her own six-yard box, she misdirects a header but she gets lucky twice as the ball just drifts wide to avoid an embarrassing own goal.

The ball also just evaded a sliding in Simone Boye and any touch at all would have taken the ball into the net and given Denmark the lead.

    Denmark 0-0 China

Another change for Denmark with Rikke Madsen on for her World Cup debut, replacing Nicoline Sorensen.

We've got 20 minutes left if we're to carry on the tournament run of having a penalty in every match.

Will that be the only way through for either side?

  7. 'Denmark need to get Harder on the ball'published at 14:23 British Summer Time 22 July 2023

You saw Norway the other night and they didn't manage to get much out of their star player Ada Hegerberg.

As a head coach, you have to look at what is best to get the absolute top level from your team. For Denmark today, it has to be to get Pernille Harder on the ball.

  8. Postpublished at 66 mins

    Denmark 0-0 China

Wang Shuang cuts in from the right on to her favoured left foot and goes for a 25-yard piledriver but it is well over the top and Lene Christensen can just watch on as the ball goes safely over the crossbar.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 62 mins

    Denmark 0-0 China

A change for Denmark and what a player to bring on as Signe Bruun, who has just moved to Real Madrid from Lyon, replaces Kathrine Kuhl.

Will she be the difference maker?

  10. 'Strong goalkeeping from Xu and Christensen'published at 14:17 British Summer Time 22 July 2023

    Denmark 0-0 China

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Two

Both goalkeepers are on that front foot, ready to come out and clear their lines.

Good goalkeeping from both as the ball went from one end to another.

You can't ever switch off as a goalkeeper, and both showed they are fully concentrated.

It's already been better than the first half and Nicoline Sorensen sends in a dangerous-looking angled ball into the box, aiming for Pernille Harder at the back post.

But some absolute excellent defending from Chen Qiaozhu to just get there in front of Harder inside her own six-yard box to head clear under pressure. Maybe a goal-saving header that one.

  12. 'What a miss'published at 14:11 British Summer Time 22 July 2023

What a golden opportunity for Denmark.

The chance comes really out of nothing, a loose ball that comes back into the box.

And what a miss that is from Hasbo.

  13. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Denmark 0-0 China

That should be a goal for Denmark and it's a horror miss from Josefine Hasbo.

Nicoline Sorensen's cross from the left sees China's Xu Huan and Zhang Xin get in each other's way, the ball loops up for Hasbo who only has to head it down and straight into the unguarded goal to score.

But the header is a really poor one, she gets under the ball and sends the header over the top. By far the best chance of the match but not taken.

How costly will that one be?

  14. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Denmark 0-0 China

Just as the first half was, it's a bright start to the half from China with Wang Shuang nearly making an instant impact.

She shoots first time powerfully going across goal, but Lene Christensen does well to dive to her right and hold on to the ball.

Straight down the other end and Josefine Hasbo's shot is blocked for a corner, which comes to nothing.

Still, encouraging signs when the first half didn't trouble those producing the highlights packages too much.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 47 mins

    Denmark 0-0 China

A change for China at the break as former Paris St-Germain forward Wang Shuang comes on for Zhang Xin

Li Mengwen tries to have a shot on target inside the opening 60 seconds of the second half but shoots over.

  16. 'Denmark have fallen for the trap'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 22 July 2023

    HT: Denmark 0-0 China

    Steph Houghton
Manchester City defender on BBC Two

China have done well getting around the ball and stopping Denmark's momentum, they have laid the trap and Denmark have fallen for it.

China are quick to get around the first and second balls, stopping any rhythm.

Denmark have tried to stick to their gameplan, which they will have been working on all week, but it just isn't working out for them at the minute.

  19. 'A well-organised half from China'published at 13:53 British Summer Time 22 July 2023

    HT: Denmark 0-0 China

    Jonas Eidevall
    Arsenal manager on BBC One

Maybe not a thrilling half from a goals point of view but from a tactical point of view China have been brilliant.

Every time Denmark try to play the ball through their organisation, there is always a China player ready to close down and put pressure on them.

Denmark need to try to look to move the China defence around, play it wide and create the space.
