After failing to keep a clean sheet in any of their four games at the Women's World Cup in 2015, their debut at the tournament, Switzerland have now done so in each of their opening two games in 2023 (won one, drawn one).

  8. 'Switzerland have been a very smart team'published at 07:55 British Summer Time 30 July 2023

Switzerland v New Zealand (08:00 BST)

    Jonas Eidevall
    Arsenal manager on BBC Two

Switzerland have been a very smart team, very well organised. I think their new coach, Inka Grings, really brought some competitiveness and that winning mentality. You can almost see it in her eyes, she has her standard.

  9. 'We were too good, wasted too much energy discussing the coach'published at 07:54 British Summer Time 30 July 2023

    Norway v Philippines (08:00 BST)

    Laura Georges
Former France international on BBC Two

[With France] we lost so many games, so much energy, by talking about the coach, the decisions of the coach, the squad management.

People said to us, "France, you are too good," and we were. But the mentality of the group constantly talking about the coach just lot a lot of energy.

I can understand now why Norway aren't playing as well as they can, given the discussions about the manager.

But at the end of your career you then look back and think, "Why?"

This one is going to be very close but I am backing New Zealand to edge it and top the group.

The Ferns have got team spirit and togetherness in abundance and that can make the difference for them - they have a real desire to get through and a collective approach to making it happen.

New Zealand will be kicking themselves that they slipped up against the Philippines, in one of the biggest shocks of this World Cup so far.

Switzerland have been very solid in their opening matches and are yet to concede a goal, but I am going for the co-hosts to get through.

    Prediction: 0-1

  11. 'Player comments a big warning sign for Norway'published at 07:51 British Summer Time 30 July 2023

    Norway v Philippines (08:00 BST)

    Jonas Eidevall
    Arsenal manager on BBC Two

Yes if the players are saying those comments, that is a big warning sign for me. Those comments are unnnecessary during a World Cup.

You always have different opinions in a squad, no doubt about that, but no one is bigger than the team.

You always have to do what is best for the team, even at times when that goes over your own disappointment, you have to take that for the team.

New Zealand make two changes from the side that lost 1-0 to the Philippines as Celtic's Olivia Chance, and Annalie Longo, come in for Betsy Hassett and Indiah-Paige Riley.

New Zealand's side also includes Rangers goalkeeper Victoria Esson, Brighton defender Rebekah Stott, CJ Bott of Leicester and Tottenham midfielder Ria Percival.

New Zealand XI: Esson, Riley, Bowen, Stott, Bott, Longo, Percival, Steinmetz, Riley, Hand, Wilkinson.

Subs: Nayler, Leat, Bunge, Anton, Cleverley, Hassett, Rennie, Riley, Satchell, Jale, Clegg.

  13. 'New Zealand have work to do when breaking down opponents'published at 07:46 British Summer Time 30 July 2023

Switzerland v New Zealand (08:00 BST)

    Jonas Eidevall
    Arsenal manager on BBC Two

New Zealand in the opening game against Norway, they were really strong collectively and had really strong defesnive organisation.

When the game state gets like that, Norway are really hard to break down.

But then, when they were playing against the Philippines and they had a lot of the possession and they were the team who had to break down the opponent, there they had a lot of development to do.

    Rachel Brown-Finnis

    Norway v Philippines

I was expecting Norway to be in a much better position in Group A after two games - and their situation reflects how much the squad environment is reflected in results.

A collection of talented individual players who are fragmented and disjointed lost to New Zealand and then drew with Switzerland, who both have less quality and no real superstars but are more unified as teams.

I think they will do their bit and beat the Philippines, who are still in the mix themselves.

    Prediction: 2-0.

  15. 'You have to be in the top two'published at 07:42 British Summer Time 30 July 2023

Switzerland v New Zealand (08:00 BST)

    Laura Georges
Former France international on BBC Two

On everything still to be decided in Group A in the last round of fixtures:

This is what we like! You have the Philippines still in the game. If they win, they can still qualify. You have Norway who everybody expected to be first in the group, they are last.

Then you still have Switzerland and New Zealand still fighting to go to the knockout phase. So it's really exciting which is really special because in the last World Cup edition we had only 24 teams.

Now you have 32 but only the first two can qualify. Last time you finish third and hope you could still get through but now you have to be in the top two of the group.

  16. What's happened in Group A?published at 07:40 British Summer Time 30 July 2023

It all started off when co-hosts New Zealand stunned Norway 1-0 in the opener.

And then Switzerland beat World Cup debutants the Philippines.

Then another shock with the Philippines beating New Zealand.

And Norway and Switzerland played out a goalless draw.

Norway already knew they would be without star player and inaugural Ballon D'Or winner Ada Hegerberg for this pivotal Group A clash.

The 28-year-old picked up a groin injury in the warm-up to their draw with Switzerland.

As expected, coach Hege Riise has recalled Barcelona forward Caroline Graham Hansen, who had been critical of the decision to leave her on the bench for their draw with Switzerland. She replaces Amalie Eikeland in their only change.

Norway: Mikalsen, Bjelde, Mjelde, Harviken, Tuva Hansen, Risa, Maanum, Reiten, Haug, Caroline Hansen, Haavi.

Subs: Fiskerstrand, Sonstevold, Horte, Bergsvand, Engen, Saevik, Hegerberg, Eikeland, Blakstad, Lund, Josendal, Pettersen.

The Philippines also make just the one change.

Isabella Flanigan's inclusion at the expense of Sofia Harrison is the only alteration from the starting XI that earned them their first ever World Cup win, in their last outing against New Zealand.

Sarina Bolden leads the line again after scoring the only goal of the game against the tournament co-hosts last Tuesday.

Philippines: Olivia McDaniel, Quezada, Beard, Long, Barker, Flanigan, Eggesvik, Cowart, Sawicki, Guillou, Bolden.

Subs: Jota, Cesar, Annis, Chandler McDaniel, Castaneda, Bugay, Serrano, Frilles, Harrison, Randle, Bonta, Fontanilla.

  18. Time for permutationspublished at 07:35 British Summer Time 30 July 2023

Switzerland will qualify if they avoid defeat against New Zealand, and a win will guarantee they top Group A.

New Zealand will qualify with victory, but a draw would be enough if Norway and the Philippines also draw.

The Philippines will qualify for the last 16 if they beat Norway. Victory would also earn them top spot if Switzerland v New Zealand finishes all square. They can qualify with a draw if New Zealand lose, but defeat means elimination.

Norway must beat the Philippines or they are out. If they win, they need one of the following to happen: Switzerland to win, New Zealand to win and a three-goal swing in Norway's favour over the Swiss or New Zealand and Switzerland to draw and Norway win by two clear goals.

Hello. Now we're getting down to the business end of things at the Women's World Cup.

Norway could become the first big team to exit this season's tournament - or maybe New Zealand will become the first hosts to fail to make the knockout stages.

Switzerland and the Philippines have things in their own hands too.

Two games, one kick-off time, both shown live on the BBC.

Welcome to live text commentary of the Group A finale.
