Real end-to-end stuff. No goals, but you get the feeling it won’t stay like that for long.

It's fabulous pressure from Shinnie, leading with example with the captain's armband.

There was plenty power behind the shot, well worth having a go.

Aberdeen 0-0 BK Hacken (agg 2-2)

First sight of goal for Aberdeen as Graeme Shinnie does well to make room for a shot then smashes one.

Hacken keeper Abrahamsson gets it behind unconvincingly then flaps at the corner.

Hacken don't seem fazed by this atmosphere.

They're trying to punch through Aberdeen's midfield with penetrating balls.

But here come Hacken, who captalise on slack Aberdeen defending and win a corner.

It's an inswinger and Tebo Uchenna wins it, but he's stretching and can't get enough accuracy on it.

The team that can win the midfield battle tonight will gain the upper hand.

Neither backline looked completely happy or secure last week, so getting on top of the ball in the midfield will be key.

Jonny Hayes could "sense the atmosphere" around Aberdeen in the build-up to tonight's sell-out encounter.

But he insists his side won't get carried away by "going out to try and win the game in the first 10 minutes".

"It could go to extra time, penalties, we'll prepare for that," Hayes adds.

"It's an evenly matched tie at a packed Pittodrie and it is something I am looking forward to."

    Aberdeen v BK Hacken (19:45)

    Willie Miller

Hacken looked a wee bit all over the place last week when Aberdeen got their game going; the substitutes were crucial to that.

The Europa League group stage would be a magnificent achievement. It's a huge, huge challenge for the players if they can get over the hurdle of tonight.

They've put themselves in a fabulous position, but they've still got a lot of work to do tonight.

    Aberdeen v BK Hacken (agg 2-2) (19:45)

Despite throwing away a two-goal first-leg lead and losing at IFK Gothenburg on Sunday, BK Hacken coach Per Mathias Hogmo says his side "really feel confident" in their "fight for the Europa League".

"If you look at the [first leg], we did a lot of good stuff in a long period of the game," he added. "At the same time, some things we have to do better and we have been working with that.

"You always learn from a game, both teams will do. We feel confident with our skills, which we have both individual and as a team. We are coming here to score goals, that is our strength and we have to attack as we always do."

Last week was a bit daft, wasn't it? Aberdeen were a bit rubbish, then they were good.

The Dons went two down, but two goals in four minutes inside the final quarter from Bojan Miovski and Nicky Devlin sent the travelling fans wild.

Had debutant Jamie McGrath's late effort not been ruled out, once Hacken were down to ten men as Johan Hammar received his second yellow, Aberdeen could've earned a remarkable first-leg lead.

Similar madness tonight would be appreciated.

  17. Sell-out Pittodrie provides 'great platform' for Aberdeenpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 31 August 2023

    Aberdeen v BK Hacken (19:45)

Aberdeen manager Barry Robson tells BBC Scotland: "Hacken are the Swedish champions. They're about the sell a player for £3m, they sign players for over £1 million, they're a top team.

"They're a really good side and we know that, it's going to be a really difficult game tonight.

"We've said to the players that they've done the difficult part in getting to the Conference League, which is a great achievement for everyone, but what a chance you've got to play in the Europa League and play against the real big boys.

"We've got a great platform with a full house behind us."

On tonight's team, Robson added: "We've made it clear all along we need to try and freshen the team up with all the travelling we've done, that's four away games in the last month.

"Hopefully we can bring some energy into the game tonight."

For Hacken, it's just one switch from the side that started last week's first leg.

The suspended Johan Hammar is the man making way, with Tebo Uchenna coming in to replace the defender.

Winger Ibrahim Sadiq, who scored a penalty last Thursday, is poised to join Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, but he starts tonight in a potential farewell appearance.
