'These are complex issues' - Southgate on Henderson
England
More from Southgate on Jordan Henderson's choice to play in Saudi Arabia after being an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community:
"I think we are supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. A large number of the team and staff have relatives or friends from the community.
"I can only talk on a personal level. I will try to be accepting of everyone's cultures.
"It's not intentional that we would let down any of our fans but these are complex issues that we're all trying to navigate."
On if he's worried to the fan reaction to Henderson:
"We're picking a team for football reasons. There are lots of different club ownership models. There are a lot of different players who play in countries with different religious beliefs.
"I don't know why a player would receive an adverse reaction because of where he plays football.
"I'm a bit lost on the questioning really."

Gareth Southgate on including defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who is yet to play for Manchester City this season: "Giving some less experienced players in the squad. Tyrone Mings is out for the season, John Stones is out for this camp. Conor Coady is out playing in the Championship now.
"Declan Rice was the only English player at the weekend to play in a single pivot. Kalvin is the next best option."
On Harry Maguire's inclusion, despite not playing for Manchester United: "It's not a good situation that those guys aren't playing football, but in some areas we have depth. In others we don't."
'Raheem's not particularly happy'
England
Gareth Southgate, speaking after announcing his England squad for upcoming matches against Ukraine and Poland, was first asked about his decision to include youngsters Eddie Nketiah and Levi Colwill.
"Two young players who are doing very well," he said. "They have done well with our junior teams. Levi had time with us in the summer.
"I didn't want to move away from our squads at Old Trafford [earlier this summer]. It's only been three games into the season."
On leaving out Raheem Sterling: "I didn't want to leave any attacking players out. A lot of competition for places in that area behind the nine.
"Really happy to see him do well for Chelsea, but everyone has started the season well.
"Raheem's not particularly happy with that."

Fati to Brighton 'seems like a perfect fit'
Johnny Cantor
BBC Sussex commentator
The initial reaction from many Seagulls fans over Fati's potential move may have been surprise and incredulity but as soon as you look at what the club and the player has to offer it seems a perfect fit or all parties.
The long-term injury to Julio Enciso left Brighton needing a different attacking option as they look to compete in four competitions.
Fati could provide them with a young but established forward for a set loan period without a huge financial outlay. The player meanwhile gets the opportunity to play in the Premier League and the Europa League under a head coach that plays high-risk, high-reward football and is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting managers in the world.
Following the arrival of Carlos Baleba this week, confirmation of a deal for Fati before tomorrow's Europa league draw may just take excitement levels amongst the fanbase to peak levels.
In case you missed it, Spain forward Ansu Fati is set to complete a surprise season-long loan move to Brighton from Barcelona.
Fati has fallen down the pecking order at Barcelona, who need to create some space in their squad to sign Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo on loan.
Brighton's deal for the 20-year-old does not include an obligation to buy.
Tottenham had also been linked with Fati but he is understood to have been impressed by Brighton's style of play under manager Roberto de Zerbi.

Liverpool central defender Nat Phillips has agreed to join Celtic on loan until January.
The Bhoys are set to sign the 26-year-old with centre-backs Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki facing lengthy spells out.
Phillips, who joined Liverpool in 2016, has spent previous loan spells at Stuttgart and Bournemouth.
He has yet to play for the Reds this season and made only five appearances during the 2022-23 campaign.
His best season for Liverpool came in 2020-21 when he made 20 outings, including three in the Champions League as Liverpool suffered an injury crisis of their own in the centre of defence.
Phillips has made 79 career appearances, scoring once in a 3-0 Liverpool victory over Burnley
His contract at Anfield runs until 2025.

Is Lukaku an unfulfilled talent or underappreciated?

The news of the day is that Romelu Lukaku has left Chelsea to return to Serie A on another season-long loan deal, this time with Roma, and it means he remains one of the Premier League's great enigmas.
The Belgium striker's 121 goals puts him 20th on the list of top scorers in the Premier League's 31-year history, just shy of Dwight Yorke and Nicolas Anelka but above Cristiano Ronaldo and Didier Drogba.
Lukaku's latest Stamford Bridge departure comes 12 years after he first joined the Blues from Anderlecht as an 18-year-old, and it follows two summers on from him becoming Chelsea's then-record signing for £97.5m.
While his move to Roma is only on loan, he is already cumulatively the most expensive player ever, with his career transfer fees totalling nearly £300m.
The 30-year-old was more prolific - in a goals-per-game sense - than Wayne Rooney, Robbie Fowler and Jermain Defoe in the English top flight, scoring at a rate of 0.44 goals per game across 278 appearances.
Yet some critics suggest Lukaku was not a success in English football.
So was he underappreciated or, considering sheer potential and money spent to acquire him, a precocious talent unfulfilled?
Read the full feature then cast your vote at the end on whether you regard Lukaku as one of the Premier League's best ever strikers.

Gonzalez is ready 'now' - Hobbs
Crystal Palace v Wolves (Sun, 14:00BST)

Wolves have confirmed the arrival of teenage Paraguayan winger Enso Gonzalez from Libertad this lunchtime.
At 18, he could have been viewed as one for the future.
But that is not how sporting director Matt Hobbs sees it.
“We expect him to come in and compete, challenge and play first-team football," said Hobbs.
"He’s not going out on loan, we’ve brought him in to make a difference now. He’ll be part of the first-team group and be available to Gary when he’s ready."

Having only just arrived as manager, it has been a period of change for Gary O'Neil to get his head round.
Last week's win at Everton and the EFL Cup triumph over Blackpool has changed the atmosphere amongst supporters, so we will see if O'Neil extends that mood into his press conference shortly.

Rubiales' mother leaves the hospital after hunger strike
Here is a reminder of where the story stands.
The mother of Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has been discharged from hospital.
Angeles Bejar was admitted on Wednesday after locking herself in a church on Monday and going on hunger strike in protest at the treatment of her son.
Rubiales has been heavily criticised for kissing Spain's Jenni Hermoso on the lips after the World Cup final.
A video has emerged of Hermoso and her team-mates laughing and discussing the kiss on the team bus following the game.
Hermoso appears to be viewing a meme of ex-Spain men's keeper Iker Casillas kissing his then wife Sara Carbonero during an interview following his country's 2010 World Cup victory.
She later says "he comes over and hugs me like this" when talking about Rubiales.
In her statement denying the kiss was consensual, Hermoso said: "I feel the need to report this incident because I believe no person, in any work, sports or social setting should be a victim of these types of non-consensual behaviours. I felt vulnerable and a victim of impulsive-driven, sexist, out-of-place act, without any consent on my part.
"Quite simply, I was not respected."
She added she was put "under continuous pressure" to help with a "statement that could justify" Rubiales' actions - and so were her family, friends and team-mates.
More from Emma Hayes, speaking to Adrian Chiles on BBC Radio 5 Live, on the video that has surfaced of Jenni Hermoso laughing about the kiss after the final that is being used as defence of Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales.
She said: "One, we all do lots of different things in shock. And two, I don’t look at it like that. I look at a group of women where it’s almost been normalised for them, that this type of behaviour just happens to them.
"I sympathise because they haven’t been heard over a long period of time. So what has kept them going through all of that? Probably each other. And you know what, finding a smile in something that is quite shocking reveals an awful lot about the situation rather than the person.
"I think for someone like Jenni Hermoso you can see in her interview, directly after the game, she was completely uncomfortable. But no-one has been listening to them for such a long period of time.
"I probably suspect for them as players they thought that nothing was ever going to change."
Hayes added: "As I’ve said, it’s been normal for those girls to experience a systemic failure. I don’t know the full ins and outs for them. What I know is that this has been going on a long time and it’s time for change."

'Has to be fundamental change' - Hayes on Spanish football crisis
BBC Radio 5 Live
Emma Hayes has been speaking to Adrian Chiles on BBC Radio 5 Live about Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales kissing player Jenni Hermoso after the Women's World Cup final.
"I can’t believe [Spain have] won the World Cup and have had that shine taken away from them," said Hayes.
"I think on one level, I am extremely grateful that finally they [the Spain players] are
being heard.
"And this goes beyond the women’s national team, this goes very
much to the heart of all women living in Spain - about how they feel in their
society. Clearly, systemically, there has to be fundamental root change
around the treatment towards women."
