That's all from us as the Republic of Ireland fall to a 2-0 defeat against France in the Parc des Princes.

The Republic's slim hopes of reaching Euro 2024 have been further diminished by the loss.

In the other fixture tonight, the Netherlands beat Greece 3-0 this evening.

The game against the Dutch at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday is a must-win.

Stephen Kenny speaking to RTE:

"France might probably be the best team in the world, one of the best two teams in the world with real cutting-edge players like Kylian Mbappe, Griezmann and Dembele.

"They have exceptional pace in the team. I think they didn't create many chances in the first half and that was disappointing to concede the goal and it was a great strike but to concede the second straight after half-time, it was a real upward hill to climb really.

"The thing about today was that we could have lost convincingly but the players never gave in, they absolutely gave everything. No matter who we played, all the top teams, that's the first time we've ever been beaten by more than a goal.

"That's not something that we're proud of but I'm just saying that the players weren't going to give a goal up easily, they put their bodies on the line."

Chiedozie Ogbene speaking on RTE:

"I think it was a difficult night for us, for myself. I think we gave everything out there on this pitch and we just came up short and I wouldn't fault the effort today. We came up against a world class team. Everyone tried their best, we tried to implement our game. I thought that we were in it at the start but I just think we came up short today and we just look forward to Sunday."

On facing Kylian Mbappe: "We're coming up against a world class player and we show him respect, but we know the threats he has and I have to help out my teammates and the gaffer said to me to give everything I can and when I run out of energy they will make the substitutions. Overall I'm disappointed with the result, but I won't fault the effort, I think we done everything we could."

A comprehensive victory for France. I thought in the second half they were excellent. In the final third there was no panic about their play, they created opportunities, got the second goal when they needed to and they were worthy winners over the course of the 90 minutes.

As for Ireland, plenty to work on before the game against the Netherlands on Sunday.

France record their fifth consecutive Group B victory with a professional performance at the Parc des Princes.

Aurelien Tchouameni opened the scoring with a fabulous long-range strike before Marcus Thuram added a second soon after half-time with a neat finish.

Les Blues were far superior throughout, particularly in the second-half as the Republic struggled to get to grips with them.

Mike Maignan saved Chiedozie Ogbene's header, which was the Republic's only clear-cut chance on a tough night in Paris.

France are capitalising on a tiring Republic defence, with Kylian Mbappe picking out Kinglsey Coman on the right hand side of the area, but he blasts over the crossbar.

The match at the Aviva was a much closer tie between the two teams but this hasn't been. It's been total domination from the French. It just looks like there's a lot of tired players out there, a lot of tired minds.

Marcus Thuram should have added his second and France's third late on.

Theo Hernandez, as he has done so often in this half delivers a pin-point cross to Thuram, whose downward header sails wide.

Seconds later, Kylian Mbappe jinks inside and lets fly, with his goal bound effort headed over the crossbar by Shane Duffy.

France are in no mood to let up, even at this late stage.

There will be six minutes of additional time at the end of the game with France continuing to pour forward.

A double change for France, with Antoine Griezmann going off to a standing ovation to be replaced by Eduardo Camavinga.

Benjamin Pavard, who scored the winner for France against the Republic in March, is on for Jules Kounde.

Kylian Mbappe produces some great footwork to get away from Josh Cullen before blazing over the crossbar.

The captain hasn't had as much joy as others in a French shirt have tonight.

It's great to see youngsters getting an opportunity here. There isn't much in it for the Irish to get back into the game, so the manager is looking at his resources for Sunday against the Netherlands.

Festy Ebosele makes a positive impression, driving forward before being taken down by Antoine Griezmann, who receives a yellow card for the challenge.

A free-kick in a decent position for the Republic, but Shane Duffy heads straight at Mike Maignan from James McClean's delivery.

Udinese's Festy Ebosele comes on for his international debut for the final five minutes plus stoppage time.

He replaces Chiedozie Ogbene, who was the Republic's brightest spark going forward.

France have completely dominated this second half. They're in total control. They show you what a good team should do when in possession of the ball when in the final third, there's no panic about them whatsoever.

Will Keane's short-lived cameo comes to an end as he is unable to continue and is replaced by Aaron Connolly, who as also been amongst the goals for Hull City.

There is a stoppage with Will Keane going down off the ball just minutes after coming on . This does not look good with the Netherlands game on the horizon.

Lucas Hernandez's night is done as he is replaced by William Saliba.

James McClean will be relived to see Ousmane Dembele being withdrawn, although he is replaced by the equally explosive Kingsley Coman.
