Leicester fans have filled most of the lower tier of the imposing Darwen End and have reason to be in fine voice. A win today will see the Foxes back to the top of the Championship as Enzo Maresca bids to get Leicester back in the big time at the first time of asking.

It’s not since 1997 that Leicester last won at Blackburn. Rovers had Kevin Gallacher leading the line that day. He’s sat just behind me for BBC Radio Lancashire and how Jon Dahl Tomasson would love him in his prime on the park today.

Leicester are a good side. Even though Blackburn are at home, they are underdogs today and it's a good chance to see where they are. Can they match this side?

Can Blackburn avoid a third straight defeat and stop Leicester City's momentum?

Rovers are in their traditional black and white halves. The visitors are sporting a mustard-coloured third strip.

Both these sides were in action in the League Cup during midweek, with differing fortunes.

Blackburn saw off fellow Championship side Cardiff 5-2, and were handed a trip to Premier League side Chelsea in the fourth round.

Leicester, however, exited to top-flight opposition, losing 3-1 to Liverpool at Anfield.

Only Ricardo Pereira and James Justin from that Foxes starting line-up begin today's match.

The Foxes are winless in their last six league visits to Blackburn - drawing twice and losing four times - since a 4-2 win on the final day of the 1996-97 Premier League season.

One change for Leicester too from last weekend, which is also because of injury.

James Justin starts at left-back in place of Callum Doyle.

Leicester City look to have aced their recruitment this summer after replacing interim boss Dean Smith, who could not save the club from relegation from the top flight.

Enzo Maresca was assistant to Pep Guardiola last season as Manchester City won the treble, but has left the bright lights of the Premier League and Champions League to strike out on his own.

And he has been rewarded so far.

The Foxes have won seven of their eight Championship games this season, with their sole defeat coming at home against Hull last month.

The visitors are looking to make it four victories on the bounce today.

This campaign has been a bit stop-start for Blackburn.

Rovers are yet to register back-to-back league wins, and sit 17th with 10 points from their first eight games.

After successive defeats against Sunderland and Ipswich, the Ewood Park side are two points above the relegation zone following yesterday's action.

Can Jon Dahl Tomasson get his side back on track against a Leicester team in stunning form?

By the start of October, the Championship table begins to take shape, and the final match of the weekend pits together two sides who were among the pre-season favourites for promotion.

Hosts Blackburn challenged for much of last season, but ultimately finished one place outside of the play-offs.

So far in 2023-24, Rovers have failed to match those lofty expectations.

Fans of visitors Leicester City would have been hopeful of mounting a bid to bounce straight back to the Premier League, but whether they would have expected such a bright start under Enzo Maresca is another matter.

The Foxes will return to the top of the table if they avoid defeat this lunchtime.
