I like the atmosphere at St Mary's today.

I like the way the Southampton fans are responding.

Birmingham are scrapping hard though there is no doubt about that.

Right, Southampton are one goal up early at St Mary's.

It would be fair to say they were looking dangerous in the lead up to that Taylor Harwood-Bellis goal.

Can Birmingham respond? 15 minutes gone.

Town have been warned. It was a decent ball into the box, good height and pace, Leeds get the first contact and Huddersfield really have to do better defensively there - luckily for them the offside flag was up. It was an easy decision.

Joel Piroe has the ball in the back of the net for Leeds United, but the flag us up for offside.

There isn't much in the way complaints from the hosts, as the call was spot on there.

The feeling was that we could see Huddersfield sit back a little today, but the Terriers have been quick to disprove that notion.

It seem's like Southampton might be catching Birmingham at a good time with Rooney still bedding in.

If there was ever a good time to catch an opponent that is.

Southampton have had plenty of the ball in these early stages.

Birmingham are working hard to try and keep the home side out of their box.

Saints midfielder Will Smallbone receives the ball just inside the Blues area and goes down ... but the referee says play on.

Leeds are on the front foot and pressing in the opening exchanges at Elland Road as the mist begins to clear on this West Yorkshire derby.

I just wish he was a little bit more direct because he has a lot of players with really good experience.

Birmingham City have yet to win under new boss Wayne Rooney and just like Southampton, some fans have been wondering about the playing style under their new manager.

This week Blues defender Cody Drameh said they must “roll with it” under Rooney as they learn a new playing style. You can read his comments here.

Some Southampton fans were questioning Russell Martin’s squad selection for their midweek match against Preston, suggesting too many changes had been made and players were being played out of position.

Martin was quick to defend his decision making after the match saying changes were made due to illness, injury and a suspension.

Ahead of today’s match against Birmingham City the Saints boss said he wasn’t fussed what people thought about him anyway, you can read more here.

Leeds United’s defeat by Stoke in midweek ended their three-game winning run and has them 14 points adrift of leaders Leicester City.

They are back at Elland Road today for a West Yorkshire derby game against a Huddersfield side that has managed just one win from their past seven games in the Championship.
