  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 59 mins

    Wales 4-0 Gibraltar

Nicholas Pozo is replaced by Joseph Chipolina.

That's two Chipolinas on the pitch.

    The two cousins.

Gibraltar do have another Chipolina they can call on but he's not in the squad tonight.

It's a bit of a Ray, Danny and Rod Wallace situation.

Almost a goal for Joe Low! He heads just over from a corner.

Both Low and Poole have looked assured, albeit in easy circumstances.

Wales' performance is almost perfection this evening.

Two things for Rob Page is that he would probably like another goal to win the half and to keep a clean sheet.

I don't think Kieffer Moore would have asked to stay on but for him, it's not often you get to score three for your country, but I'm not sure how many hattricks he's scored in his career to be honest.

I'm sure Danny Ward would have liked to have had something to do, especially as he's not playing for his club, but it's not that sort of game tonight.

There has been no change to the pattern of play.

The changes make sense, you expect Kieffer Moore, Ben Davies and Jordan James to start on Sunday, so some valuable minutes in the legs for those boys, more chances now for the lads coming on to impress.

Charlie Savage deserves a goal, he's worked really well and intelligently, he probably needs to put a bit on physically but that will come with age.

I suppose instinctively we think wrapping the key Wales players up in cotton wool is the smart play.

But some players - Ben Davies as an example - have lacked minutes this season for their clubs.

This is a good boost for Wales, in terms of fitness and confidence.

When do you think Rob Page will pull Neco Williams off and bring Owen Beck on?

Williams will definitely start against Croatia and I don't see him playing 90 minutes tonight and on Sunday.

He's caught the eye, for sure.

All about Wrexham tonight and rightly so, but a shout-out to the Newport fans who will be enjoying seeing Regan Poole and Josh Sheehan on the pitch together.

Wales have been absolutely terrific, the way they have approached the game has been spot on.

Wales have moved the ball so well, Charlie Savage has been fantastic, he's not wasted a pass and the attitude of these Wales players to play at that intensity, that is what has done the damage.

  18. Cardiff to host Euro 2028 opener?published at 20:44 British Summer Time 11 October 2023

    HT: Wales 4-0 Gibraltar

It's already been a big week for Welsh football with the news of Wales being one of five nations who will host Euro 2028.

Cardiff is potentially being lined up as the host city for the first game of the tournament.

Wales legend Gareth Bale is hopeful Wales will be given the chance to stage the opening game.

Wales is preparing to co-host a major tournament for the first time following Uefa confirmation on Tuesday.

"As a Welshman, I would love for Cardiff to host the opening match," said ex-Wales captain Bale.

"I am sure that's something we will try to push for - we have the stadium and infrastructure for it."

  19. Owen Beck inspired by his great-uncle (who was great)published at 20:43 British Summer Time 11 October 2023

Could we see this man in the second half?

Owen Beck's great-uncle is a really, really great, great-uncle, especially if you're aspiring to be a top footballer for Liverpool and Wales.

Beck says his great-uncle Ian Rush is an inspiration to him as he prepares to make his Wales debut in Wrexham.

Liverpool legend Rush is Wales men’s second leading scorer with 28 goals.

The only negative of the first half is the injury to Wes Burns, exactly what Rob Page wouldn't have wanted ahead of Croatia.

Since Kieffer Moore made his debut I don't think anyone has scored more for Wales. If you put the ball in the box, he'll score. Well, he should score, he's 6'5"!

The feeling I'm getting is there's more goals to come from this team in the second half.
