Beckham is now speaking about the late Bobby Charlton.

"He was respected on the pitch and even more so off the pitch for what he stood for. He's going to be missed. When we looked into the stands we'd always see him there.

"On a personal side, he started everything for me. I went to his soccer school when I was 10 years old. Without him telling Manchester United to look out for me, I might never have played for them.

"My middle name is Robert after him."

David Beckham, who used to play for Paris St-Germain, said: "Paris is a really special city for me. We spent many anniversaries and birthdays here.

"On the field it's even more special. To be able to play for a team like Paris St-Germain and win their first title in 19 years was special.

"I played my 100th game for my country here and my last game in football here. It's a very special place for me."
