Ah, not what we wanted to hear from the Lamex Stadium.

It seems the earlier floodlight failure that delayed kick-off between Stevenage and Cambridge has done more than just postpone the start of the game.

The club have just announced that the game has been cancelled.

There will be no final fix of festive football for fans of those two sides in 2023.

    What a shame.

    Notts County 3-0 Morecambe

You have to feel for Tom Bloxham and Jacob Davenport who have been subbed inside half an hour for Morecambe who are already 3-0 down at Meadow Lane.

Jake Taylor and Yann Songo'o have been sent on to try to change the game.

    No pressure, lads.

GOAL: Peterborough 0-2 Barnsleypublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Devante Cole ( 31 mins)

Barnsley are really in business here!

A 13th League One goal of the season for Devante Cole, but the Reds are not feeling unlucky!

They again rob Peterborough of possession high up the pitch and John McAtee rolls it back for Cole to make it two.

Plenty of action in our feature games, but not a lot to shout about around the grounds in the third tier right now.

A couple of goals we can update on you on, though.

Bez Lubala has given Burton the lead against Shrewsbury, and Jon Guthrie has put Northampton ahead at Lincoln.

  5. goal

GOAL: Cheltenham 1-0 Readingpublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Liam Sercombe (29 mins)

But David Button can't keep Cheltenham out forever!

Shot number 11, a sixth on target and this one counts from Liam Sercombe.

It is Sean Long with the cross to the back stick where Sercombe strokes it home.

    Barrow 0-0 Accrington

You can probably imagine what the conditions are like at Holker Street on a night of filthy weather across the country.

The wind and rain are not making it easy for either side in the opening half hour.

Tiki-taka is probably out of the question.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Cheltenham 0-0 Reading

David Button is single-handedly keeping Cheltenham at bay in this one.

The Royals goalkeeper this time saves from Lewis Freestone's header.

The Robins have had 10 shots so far and five on target - but no goals!

  8. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Oxford 2-0 Derby

As results stand, and obviously very early days, Derby will be slipping outside of the top six.

Remember, it is seven wins and a draw from the last eight since their last league defeat on 28 October.

  9. goal

GOAL: Notts County 3-0 Morecambepublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Dan Crowley (24 mins)

Kyle Cameron's cross is headed home by Dan Crowley to make it 3-0 and Notts County are absolutely flying.

They bagged three in 20 minutes either side of the break on Tuesday, on Friday night they have three goals in 14 first-half minutes.

  10. Postpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Bradford 0-0 Stockport

Stockport go up the other end and win a free-kick, Kyle Knoyle whips it in but Nick Powell, who scored on Tuesday, cannot keep his header on target.

    The bright start continues.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Peterborough 0-1 Barnsley

Maybe we were being a bit harsh to Peterborough goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic in the build-up to Herbie Kane's goal.

He has not really recovered and he is replaced by Fynn Talley.

  12. CLOSE!published at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Bradford 0-0 Stockport

Bantams forward Clarke Odour has drilled narrowly past the base of the post from the edge of the box.

Lively start in Bradford where we're all very grateful the pitch was deemed playable in a pitch inspection 90 minutes before kick-off.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Cheltenham 0-0 Reading

Another fine stop from David Button in the Reading goal as he denies George Lloyd.

Cheltenham will be wondering how they do not have a goal for their opening 20 minutes.

  14. League Two updatepublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    #bbcefl

A busy start at Plough Lane, where AFC Wimbledon and Colchester have traded early goals, Cameron McGeehan cancelling out Josh Davison's opener for the hosts.

MK Dons have made a positive start in their bid to win four on the trot against Crawley and lead 1-0.

It's the same score at Walsall, who could be on for two home wins in the space of three days. They lead high-flying Wrexham.

  15. 'Oxford need to keep momentum'published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Oxford Utd 2-0 Derby

Oxford need to keep the noise and momentum going.

Maybe the fans are in shock!

  16. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Barrow 0-0 Accrington

Barrow's Elliot Newby has seen appeals for a penalty waved away after cutting in from the left and going down under a challenge in the box.

At the other end Jack Nolan has dragged an effort past the upright for the visitors.

  17. 'A catastrophic error'published at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Notts County 2-0 Morecambe

    Mark Stallard
Former Notts County striker on BBC Radio Nottingham

Lovely bit of play from David McGoldrick.

The ball is parried out and who is there, none other than Macaulay Langstaff again, 2-0 to him and Notts County.

It's more of an assist to the Morecambe keeper, it's a catastrophic error and he's been made to pay for it.

  18. goal

    Cameron Brannagan (13 mins)

    Cameron BrannaganImage source, PA Media

We said it was a test of Derby's promotion credentials and they are failing in a big way!

Two for Oxford and two for Cameron Brannagan.

The first was from the spot, this is from a free-kick, as he curls it into the bottom corner with real venom.

    Fantastic set-piece!

  19. goal

GOAL: Notts County 2-0 Morecambepublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

    Macauely Langstaff (12 mins)

    ... make that 17.

It's two in just over two minutes for County's main man, after sending Shrimps keeper Adam Smith the wrong way from the spot moments earlier, Macauley Langstaff converts a loose ball from close range to double the hosts' lead.

Quick work from the electricians in Hertfordshire.
