Gavin: The top four race could be insane this season if Man U and Newcastle can get over their injury crisis and Tottenham and Villa keep up their good starts.

It's a step in the right direction no doubt. It's not a lunge or jump but it's a step in the right direction.
Another big test will be against Galatasaray, can they follow this up? It has been inconsistent from Manchester United this season, they've shown bits of good and games where they're lacking quality.
Fans want to see a good consistent bit of quality in every single game they play.

Garnacho goal was special. But please, best PL goal ever? Not a chance. Yeboah, Le Tiss, Ginola to name a few.

At some point, Man U are going to stop being able to scrape results whilst being this poor and a decent team will thrash them.

Everton
Everton manager Sean Dyche, speaking to MOTD: "They started the game with a worldie which put us on the back-foot
"We played well in the first half and had good chances so I was pleased at half-time.
"Then they get a penalty early on and the VAR is being made so complex. I feel for the fans and the referee stares at the screen and we know the outcome.
"The way the modern game is they say it is a penalty.
"But we see it all the time and it is what the game has become now."
On facing Manchester United: "It is tough. They are top of the form guide and they are clinical, they found big moments with key passes.
"They are a good outfit but a lot of our performance was aright. We are trying to mix our play but you have to score goals.
"Chance count is high again today but we have to find that clinical edge. That can be the difference sometimes and they [Everton players] are working very hard."
On the points deduction: "It has been a tough 10 days to take the news, but we brush ourselves down.
"Most people think how unjust it is including our fans, myself and the football club. We have to perform and win games.
"The game didn't really settle it is a worldie and fair play to the lad [Alejandro Garnacho] but I will doubt there will be one like that next week.
"I thought we was very strong first half and thought we should have gone in level at half-time."
On character: "It is a vital part of it, but it is about the glue that holds the group together as we have got to with what has gone off."

If Everton feel hard gone by just look at Southend United! 10 points deducted, transfer embargo for over 12 months, a day from going out of business and despite all this are still hoping to reach the play offs!! Remarkable performance and shows what grit, determination and team spirit can achieve.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to BBC Sport: "The start of the game, very good. A very good team goal, the finish was incredible - world class. Probably already the goal of the season. Magnificent moment.
"Then we went passive and Everton went in the game. At half-time we corrected it and were very good. We were proactive, taking the initiative and scoring great goals.
"At first I was wondering why it was not a penalty. So obvious. Happy we got the penalty. We have some very good penalty takers. There you saw the captaincy - he knew a player needed the goal. It will help him and give him extra strength.
"Excellent team goal and an excellent finish [from Martial]. We have front players, a lot has to do with confidence and belief."
On Mainoo: "We know we're in a transition. We have to develop players. Kids have to deserve it. It was painful for us when he got a bad injury in pre-season but now he's back. He's a good boy, very mature. He showed it today."
On things looking up: "Of course, we're taking positives from it. We had problems in the start of the season. A lot went against us. We're growing. We have to keep this process growing."

What they did is they turned up in the crucial moments. They turned up in the first fifteen minutes, the goalkeeper turned up just before half-time and just after half-time.
The goals that followed came at really good moments - they delivered in really big moments of the game and that's what you have to do.
Everton didn't, Everton were the other way. They had a lot of huff and puff without any real final end product in the two penalty areas where it all counts and that's where United were good.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, speaking to MOTD: "It was important for us, we know what Everton have been through.
"For the [Everton] players it is not fair and it is from long ago and they are suffering from something they have nothing to do with.
"My team came here to win the game and to their best. I think first half we could have kept the ball a bit better but still did a great job today."
On Alejandro Garnacho's goal: "Superb - something amazing and I have no words to describe it. It is out of this world. Special from a special kid.
"I still expect more from him we are aware of his capabilities we know what he can do in football."
On Kobe Mainoo: "Great game - for me man of the match, a great performance and secure on the ball and never puts a foot wrong. He is always ready to help, for his age he has too much quality.
"He sees the play before and did so many good things today he was secure on the ball."
On Marcus Rashford: "I think he needed a goal. I was sure he was going to score he is one of the penalty takers too I thought it was the moment for him to have and score.
"I am really happy he scored a boost of confidence for him. He could take on any player [after that] and a threat to Everton again."

I can imagine Manchester United supporters were really feeling uncomfortable about the weeek that lies ahead.
To go to Istanbul for Galatasaray, to go to St James' Park next Saturday starting here but they've set the tone here tonight, not just in terms of just the scoreline.
There's been so much criticism of Manchester United, attitude, where they are, what they are, tonight here at Goodison it looked as though they'd got it right.
This is a big step in the right direction.

When you're coming away into stadiums like this when you know the noise that's going to be created, if you can do something like that [Alejandro Garnacho's opener], if you can create a moment, if you've got the quality within your game to help your team in that way you make the afternoon so much easier for you.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag to Sky Sports: "Probably goal of the season. Also the build-up, not just the finish, was very good. The finish is fantastic.
"After the start of the game we were too easy-going. I criticised the team at half-time. They thought they were already there. You can't do that. You have to do 100 minutes on the pitch. Second half we did very well.
"Our three offensive players scored. That's what we need. It will help us as a team."
On how much Rashford needed his goal: "A lot. You see also how great captain Bruno is. He assessed his team-mate needed that goal. He has the confidence in Rashy, who is a good penalty taker. As a team you need that leadership that you back each other.
"We have to go step by step. This is one step."

Amazing to think Man Utd are only 6 points off the top. They've been very harshly judged this season as injuries have severely disrupted their campaign. Having Shaw back is massive and will help improve Rashford. Top 4 is definitely on.
Jack, St Albans
Great captaincy from Bruno giving the penalty to Marcus. He gets some stick but that decision was just what was needed to give Rashford some confidence.

Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho, speaking to Sky Sports after the game: "I cannot believe it. To be honest I just turned around and thought 'oh my god'. One of the best I have scored - I am happy."
On it being goal of the season: "Probably! It is still November, but yes."

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, speaking to Sky Sports after the game: "It is always tough to play against Everton. A really tough team - they have good players on the ball, but I think our performance was good at stages.
"We needed to play at moments a bit more like the first 20 minutes in the first half."
On Garnacho's goal: "I give him a good nod for the goal, I have big expectations for him. He has a great future ahead and we expect a lot from. I am always going to be behind him asking for more but yes an amazing goal.
"A goal like this has to silent the crowd, Everton fans will not be happy about it but they enjoy to see it and players like him can do this. I am very happy to have him on my side."
On giving Marcus Rashford the penalty: "Because Marcus needed a bit of confidence, he needed his goal - he is an excellent penalty taker. I was sure he could score that penalty and Marcus did it perfectly.
"I think obviously strikers and wingers need to score goals, it is part of their game. Marcus was unstoppable and he could take on everybody.
"Marcus last season was amazing so expectations have been higher and it is just about getting those goals back."

Not only was it a goal that would have quietened the crowd anyway [Garnacho's opener], it was a jaw-dropping moment everybody was just stunned by seeing a goal of that quality.
It wasn't just the finish which was remarkable but the whole move, back to front, cross-field pass, good touch, underlapping run, cross to the far posted then that moment - it just took the life out of the atmosphere that Everton were trying to create.

Everton
Everton boss Sean Dyche to Sky Sports: "A lot of the performance was right. In the first half they had a great finish, it changed the feel of the early part of the game. Then we got a grip on the game. We had chnaces but couldn't take them.
"A pretty decent performance from our point of view."
On the penalty: "It's bizarre. There's no point. I feel for fans. We all know what's going to happen. The VAR thing this year, it's been all over the place. It's the simplest thing but it seems to be mayhem all the time.
"You're 2-0 down all of a sudden from a nothing moment, one you think has gone for you. It's not just about that but it doesn't help.
"This season we've created a lot of chances and not scored goals. Our mentality will serve us well this season.
"Ten points taken away from anyone will change their season. Until the appeals process goes through we have to play away the noise."
