  4. What Black Cats will we get today?published at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    Sunderland v Birmingham (12.30 GMT)

Win a few on the spin, then stall, then wow, then whoa... that sort of sums up Sunderland's trot of late.

After fine back-to-back wins against Sheffield Wednesday and Watford in late September and early October, the Black Cats have managed to win just one of their previous five games.

That win was a 3-1 beating of Norwich recently, but they were held by Swansea in a goalless draw last time out.

What, oh what, can we expect to see of Tony Mowbray's men today?

It’s a mid-November trip to Sunderland for mid-table Birmingham City, but this has must-win stamped all over it for Blues boss Wayne Rooney.

He has taken just the one point from the 12 up for grabs in his first four games.

The excitement and fanfare of his arrival back in the English game after leaving DC United already feels like a long time ago, with Birmingham now 15th in the table after he replaced John Eustace when they were sixth.

The weekend action in the EFL got under way yesterday evening with a Lancashire derby at the top end of the Championship.

Defender Liam Lindsay popped up with a last-minute winner for Preston at Blackburn to send the 6,000 travelling fans home in great spirits.

That win means Ryan Lowe's men have moved up to fourth after two successive wins, after a seven-match run without a victory.

As for match-winner Lindsay, that's his third goal of the season already. He didn't score any in 2021-22 or 2022-23.

  8. Derby daypublished at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2023

    Peterborough 0-0 Cambridge

We're well into the derby between Peterborough and Cambridge and we'll keep you updated on events at the Weston Homes Stadium.

But let's take a quick look at how both sides are looking going into today's game.

The Posh who sit fourth in the League One table have won each of their last five Football League home games against Cambridge United, a run that spans from 1997 to 2022.

However, 13th-placed Cambridge won the last league meeting between the two sides 2-0 in April last season; not since April 1990 have the U’s won consecutive Football League games against the Posh.

Peterborough's last league outing was a 2-1 defeat at Wigan which was their fourth loss so far this season while Cambridge drew 0-0 against Wycombe Wanderers.
