  1. What a day - join us for more on Tuesday

    #bbcefl

Bolton manager Ian Evatt celebrates the win

We hoped there would be drama at 15:00 GMT but perhaps did not expect this much come 17:00.

Both unbeaten records - Portsmouth (L1) and Mansfield (L2) ended.

Stockport's attempt to win a record 13th fourth tier game in a row ruined by defeat at struggling Newport.

A first away win in 21 league games for bottom-of-the-table Reading.

Shock losses also for promotion chasers Oxford in League One and Notts County in League Two.

Don't you just love this mad, beguiling, unpredictable game!

We leave you with a picture of new League One leaders Bolton, basking in the glow of a 7-0 thumping over Exeter.

Not long to rest on their laurels, though, as they head to Oxford on Tuesday.

We'll be back for that and the rest of the League One and League Two fixtures.

Thanks for your company today. Hopefully you can rejoin us then!

  2. Tranmere edge away from bottom two

    Bottom of League Two

Sutton remain rooted to the bottom of League Two after a third straight draw - this time against fellow strugglers Grimsby.

They are two points adrift of Forest Green who also took a point in a goalless draw at Walsall.

Resurgent Tranmere moved out of the two relegation places thanks to an impressive 3-1 win over Gillingham - their second victory in an unbeaten three-match run.

Newport got good value from their stunning win over leaders Stockport, moving them up four places to 16th and seven points clear of danger.

But Salford, Doncaster and Colchester all slipped closer to trouble after defeats to Milton Keynes Dons, Crewe and Barrow respectively.

  3. Good day for Red Dragons as three of top four lose

    #bbcefl

    Top of League Two

Wrexham were undoubtedly the big winners at the top of League Two in more ways than one.

They put six past managerless Morecambe and leapt back up above Mansfield and Notts County into second place.

They also cut Stockport’s lead at the summit to five points after the pacesetters fell to a 2-1 defeat at Newport which ended their proud 12-match winning run in League Two and their hopes of setting a new record for consecutive wins in the fourth tier.

Mansfield lost their unbeaten start to the season at the County Ground as Swindon struck deep in stoppage-time for a 2-1 win, while Notts slipped from third to sixth after slumping to a disappointing defeat on the road at AFC Wimbledon.

Crewe closed in on top three, and are outside the automatic promotion spots on goal difference only after edging Doncaster by the odd goal in five.

They are just a point ahead of Barrow who claimed an emphatic 4-1 win at Colchester to move into fifth.

  4. Royals finally win away but remain bottom

    Bottom of League One

Relief for Reading as they secure a first away win for 12 months and first points on their travels this season with a 2-1 victory at Wycombe.

The Royals remain bottom though and with lots of work to do, as Cheltenham beat Oxford.

Carlisle picked up a point at home to Charlton, to move closer to Fleetwood and Exeter, who both lost heavily.

Northampton were the big movers thanks to a 2-1 home win over Cambridge, their first in six games, as Burton lost at Peterborough, Port Vale were beaten at Shrewsbury and Wigan could only draw away to Leyton Orient.

  5. Bolton leap up to first as top two both lose

    #bbcefl

    Top of League One

One of the most dramatic afternoons in League One this season.

Bolton began the day outside the top two but end it in first after their 7-0 thrashing of woeful Exeter. That is because Portsmouth and Oxford both lost.

Pompey were thrashed by Blackpool and Oxford were surprisingly beaten at Cheltenham.

Stevenage and Peterborough consolidated their play-off spots with convincing wins, while Derby jumped into the top-six with their home win over Bristol Rovers.

But Blackpool are level on points with the Rams after that Fratton Park success, just ahead of Lincoln and Barnsley who shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

  6. League One: Full-time headlines

    #bbcefl

    Bolton score a seventh goal
    • We have new leaders of League One this evening. Step forward Bolton Wanderers, who hammered Exeter 7-0, equalling the highest win in the division this season. It is now one point out of a possible 27 for the Grecians.
    • Previous leaders Portsmouth see their unbeaten start obliterated by a 4-0 home defeat by Blackpool.
    • Oxford slip out of the top two as they suffer a 2-0 loss at Cheltenham in Des Buckingham's first game in charge.
    • Reading have a first away win since November 2022 as they triumph 2-1 at Wycombe.
    • Stevenage remain fourth and are on level on points with Oxford thanks to a 3-0 win at Fleetwood.
    • Peterborough thump Burton 4-0, while Derby leave it late to beat Bristol Rovers 2-1.
    • Shrewsbury defeat Port Vale 2-1, and it's the same scoreline for Northampton at home to Cambridge.
    • Lincoln and Barnsley share the points in a 2-2 draw, while it finishes 1-1 between Carlisle and Charlton and Leyton Orient and Wigan.
  7. League Two: Full-time headlines

    #bbcefl

⦁ Back-to-back home wins for Tranmere Rovers as they put distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Gillingham stay short of the play-offs after this 3-1 defeat.

Barrow are now unbeaten in 10 games in all competitions (in fifth), having run away 4-1 winners at Colchester after Jay Fevrier's 84th minute second yellow card.

⦁ Six in six for Tyler Smith of Bradford, his goal earning manager Graham Alexander his first points at home to Accrington 1-0.

⦁ Another Ali Al Hamadi brace this November, plus two Jake Reeves penalties helped AFC Wimbledon beat Notts County 4-2.

MK Dons have now 10 points from five games under Mike Williamson after winning 4-2 at Salford.

Grimsby interim management pair Ben Davies and Shaun Pearson remain unbeaten after a 1-1 with bottom club Sutton.

Doncaster Rovers were unfortunate to see two points snatched away from them by a late Connor O'Riordan second goal as Crewe Alexandra edged them 3-2.

Harrogate lost their first away league game in six at Crawley 2-1 and Walsall drew 0-0 with Forest Green Rovers.

  8. 'Stockport hoped to make history'

    Newport 2-1 Stockport

    Alex Whitington

    BBC Radio Manchester’s Stockport reporter

Stockport came to South Wales hoping to see a bit of history, but the winning streak has been thwarted.

That late goal was only a consolation.

  9. FULL-TIME

    Newport 2-1 Stockport

After 12 straight wins the League Two leaders are beaten at struggling Newport despite Tanto Olaofe's last-gasp consolation.

There'll be no record for Stockport, but a superb run nonetheless.

And what a win for the Welsh side!

  10. FULL-TIME

    Wrexham 6-0 Morecambe

After disappointing in defeat at Accrington, Wrexham get back on track with a big win at the Racecourse.

Paul Mullin was an unsurprising man-of-the-match choice after his hat-trick. The Red Dragons roar back up into second place.

That's a third straight league defeat for managerless Morecambe. It's been a tough week.

  11. FULL-TIME

    Cheltenham 2-0 Oxford

Not the start new Oxford manager Des Buckingham was dreaming of last night as goals from Rob Street and Will Goodwin are good enough for Cheltenham.

Oxford fall out of the top two with this defeat.

  12. GOAL: Wrexham 6-0 Morecambe

    James Jones (90+6 mins)

James Jones wraps it up with a sixth with virtually the last kick of the game.

After a one-two with Dalby on the edge of the Morecambe box, Jones smashes it past Smith.

  13. Post update

    Newport County 1-0 Stockport

When it's not your day, it's not your day.

Newport keeper Townsend makes a superb doubl save in stoppage-time to deny Stockport a goal back.

Madden's volley is brilliantly tipped away by Townsend who then blocks Will Collar's on rebound.

  14. League Two latest

    #bbcefl

Crewe may have just sealed a bonus two points late on against Doncaster Rovers. Connor O'Riordan with his second as he gets in front of his defender to poke home in the third minute of four scheduled minutes of injury time as the Alex lead 3-2.

Barrow put a third and, then soon after, a fourth past 10-man Colchester. Running away with this late on, bit harsh on the home side as George Ray scores again! Zach Mitchell with an own goal.

Al Hamadi has his second as a mix-up allows him to race away and put AFC Wimbledon 4-2 up against Notts County.

  15. 'Swindon rejuvenated!'

    Swindon 2-1 Mansfield

    Markus Fjortoft

    BBC Radio Wiltshire summariser

Of course Swindon ended Mansfield's run!

Football has its highs, and lows.

One moment you're in the gutter and then you have games like this.

The fans, players, and coaching staff will feel rejuvenated.

  16. FULL-TIME

    Derby 2-1 Bristol Rovers

Derby made hard work of it but they have a third league win in a row for the first time since January.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's late winner has them up into the play-off spots.

  17. FULL-TIME

    Swindon 2-1 Mansfield Town

Last-gasp agony for Mansfield as Jake Young's double ends their unbeaten start to the season in their 18th league game.

  18. FULL-TIME

    Portsmouth 0-4 Blackpool

The league leaders are no more, as Portsmouth's 16-game unbeaten start to the season is in tatters.

What a result for Blackpool against 10 men, a second straight 4-0.

  19. GOAL: Swindon 2-1 Mansfield

    Jake Young (90+4 mins)

The last unbeaten record in the EFL looks to have ben floored in the dying minutes!

It's mayhem in the Stags penalty area as the ball twice comes back off the post twice before Young pounces to poke home from close range.

  20. 'Fans are returning to their seats!'

    Derby 2-1 Bristol Rovers

    Darren Robinson

BBC Radio Derby summariser & ex-Derby coach

Tyrese Fornah was so quick with the ball to unleash Mendez-Laing.

Come on Derby, stay switched on and get the three points!

Fans who were leaving are returning to their seats!
