  2. 'I am immensely proud'published at 22:01 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2023

    FT: AFC Wimbledon 5-0 Ramsgate

Ramsgate manager Ben Smith told ITV4: "It was a fantastic occasion. We've given away a few sloppy goals and I'd have liked a few more attacking moments but we've given a good account of ourselves.

"I am immensely proud of them. They are a professional team and you have seen the gulf in physicality and fitness. We're back to the Isthmian South East now.

"I thought Tom Hadler was fantastic and it was just a shame his defenders couldn't help him out with a couple of the rebounds."

  3. 'I'm just hungry to score loads of goals'published at 21:53 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2023

    AFC Wimbledon 5-0 Ramsgate

Man of the match Ali Al-Hamadi told ITV 4:

I'm just hungry to score loads of goals, any striker on a hat-trick would be disappointed to be taken off.

I think sometimes players say a lot of cliches but I am generally hungry and keen to take it game by game.

On our day we are a match for any team, I don't care what division you are in.

Ex-Wimbledon winger Jobi McAnuff told ITV4:

They (bigger clubs) would have had an eye on him before tonight.

This man tonight was outstanding, his positioning, intelligence.

His all round game tonight was sensational.

    Ex-England forward Eni Aluko added:

His attitude off the ball, his dominance, his stature.

Just from this game you can see he is an all-round centre-forward.

  5. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2023

    AFC Wimbledon 5-0 Ramsgate

AFC Wimbledon will host Ipswich in the third round of the FA Cup.

The League Two side flexed their professional muscles and left no doubt which was the side ranked 85 places higher in the pyramid.

Johnnie Jackson's side are closer to Manchester City than they are to Ramsgate, and it looked ike that for long spells.

Ramsgate keeper Tom Hadler battled hard to keep the score down with a dozen saves but while it is the end of their FA Cup adventure this year, it is just the beginning of the eighth-tier club's journey.

The £120,000+ yielded by the cup run will surely make Ramsgate a name we see again in future seasons.

They head to Three Bridges on Saturday seeking to continue their challenge to win Isthmian South East.

As for Johnnie Jackson's side, they have scored five goals in each round so far and on this showing, the home tie with Ipswich should be an eye-catching affair.

    Matt Gerrard

Really good defending from Paxman from what would have made it six.

Tom Hadler had a great game to stop it being double figures, but they'll go back to concentrating on the league.

    AFC Wimbledon 5-0 Ramsgate

    Terry Gibson

He's actually younger than the new incarnation of Wimbledon.

It's a big moment for these young players on the fringes of the team.

The game is on television, I'm sure they have never played in such a big game as this.

Alex Pearce, a former semi-finalist with Reading NINE years ago now, my goodness, and James Ball are on for the Dons with Jake Reeves and Joe Lewis withdrawn a few minutes early.

Lee Martin and TJ Jadama are also subbed by Ben Smith, allowing Freddie Oliver and Tristan Holden, who is 16 (sixteen) to come on for a wonderful experience. Even though it's nearly bedtime.

  14. Postpublished at 83 mins

Ramsgate's Mike West spins in midfield and frees Jordan Green down the right, he bursts to the byline and slides the ball into the middle but Joe Taylor can't take advantage and the defence clears.

Still some attacking intent from the eighth-tier visitors.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 81 mins

For the second round in succession AFC Wimbledon have hit five goals at home. Can they find another to better that tally in the 10 minutes and stoppage time remaining?

After a brief stoppage to clear the field of an unwanted interloper, Omar Bugiel is withdrawn, he looks devastated and gets an arm around the shoulder from Johnnie Jackson, who was of course the one who chose to hook him.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 69 mins

    AFC Wimbledon 5-0 Ramsgate

Tom Hadler gets down well to block Josh Neufville's low strike and does even better to stick out a big boot to prevent the rebound falling to Omar Bugiel.

Bugiel, clearly unimpressed, gets the ball back seconds later and lashes in a low drive from 20-yards which Hadler clutches well on the slippery surface.

Bugiel might just have him on his dartboard tomorrow morning.

That's Hadler's ninth save of the match.
