When they attack, they flood forward. The counter-attack is very much on.

The Aris manager Aleksey Shpilevsky is very animated on the side-lines.

He's pacing up and down his technical area with his eyes firmly on every kick of the ball. He's vocal too, shouting plenty of instructions to his players.

Half chance for John Souttar.

A corner takes a nick then falls on to the boot of the centre-back, who hits it over.

Aris keeper Vana Alves takes a chance with a clearance and Danilo closes him down.

Luckily for the goalie, he gets away with it.

I've seen it before. In a European game you've got to get lifted to the tempo as soon as possible, if not immediately.

Aris are starting to threaten.

They look to burst between the centre-back pairing of Ben Davies and John Souttar, but Jack Butland gets there.

Though not able to celebrate an early goal after that Abdallah Sima offside incident, the home crowd are certainly encouraged by Rangers' intent early on.

Jose Cifuentes had the whole of the main stand telling him to release the ball more quickly moments ago and it's clear Aris Limassol have not come here to let Rangers spray the ball about unopposed.

Sam Lammers makes amends by bending in a beauty of a ball from the right, but it's knocked behind for a corner.

The set piece is eventually smothered by the goalie.

It looked like a good oportunity for Sam Lammers.

It was not a great cross from Borna Barisic but it fell nicely on to Lammers' left foot. You would expect him to do better.

A ball from the left lands perfectly for Sam Lammers, but he kicks the Govan air instead of the ball.

It eventually breaks for John Lundstram, whose strike is straight at the keeper.

Of course it's a blow missing Connor Goldson. That said, the experience of John Souttar and Ben Davies means it's not a massive deal.

I'm surprised Sam Lammers starts ahead of Tom Lawrence. Maybe Philippe Clement feels Lawrence needs a bit of a rest, but I'd have thought a fully fit Lawrence starts.
