    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Helen Ward

Former Wales striker on Match of the Day Wales

Wales' press has been superb, the energy from the middle of the pitch, and Elise Hughes, she's really putting herself about.

A really positive start from Wales.

They're just missing that goal at the moment.

  2. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

Suddenly Germany slice through Wales as Jule Brand drives into the area and rolls the ball across the face of goal.

Fortunately for Wales, nobody is there to tap into the net.

  3. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Kath Morgan

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Cymru

Wales are in a good shape. The space between the units is accurate.

Sophie Ingle is able to receive passes, that's been missing before now.

At the moment, we're looking good.

  4. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

Germany launch an attack but Sophie Ingle's tackle deals with the danger.

It is the first time the two-time world champions have come forward for a while.

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Jo Price

Former Wales goalkeeper on BBC Radio Wales

That came from Fishlock and Ingle, Fishlock putting pressure on then Ingle pinching the ball.

A great shot from Rachel Rowe.

For me, that's fantastic play from Wales.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Oh so close for Wales!

Sophie Ingle does well down the left and feeds Rachel Rowe, whose good touch opens up a shooting opportunity on the edge of the area.

Her left-footed effort crashes into the far post before bouncing on to the back of goalkeepr Merie Frohms and ricocheting just wide.

  8. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Kath Morgan

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Cymru

Germany are just trying to work out what's needed. They won't worry at all.

Wales are enjoying this possession though.

Wales have to take advantage of these chances, because people won't remember the chances, they'll remember the score.

They have to make it count.

  9. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Jo Price

Former Wales goalkeeper on BBC Radio Wales

It's a special night for Rachel Rowe, from this area.

She'll definitely be looking to put on a performance tonight.

Saying that, every time she plays, she does exactly that.

  10. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

Rachel Rowe, not for the first time, does well to win possession Germany's half and drives at the visitors' defence.

The door is quickly closed, though, by Kathrin Hendrich.

  11. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Jo Price

Former Wales goalkeeper on BBC Radio Wales

Germany are set out to play with intent.

They're very direct and their full-backs get high.

Teams that are playing against Wales seem to be overloading Lily Woodham's side. We'll see what happens here.

  12. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Kath Morgan

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Cymru

Germany won't panic. Wales have to take their chances.

  13. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

It is early days, of course, but Wales are doing okay here.

They are giving Germany something to think about.

  14. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Jo Price

Former Wales goalkeeper on BBC Radio Wales

If there's anybody you'd want in that position it'd be Sophie Ingle or Jess Fishlock.

She just didn't connect with it as well as she has done in the past.

    Great chance for Wales.

  15. Wales threaten early on

    Wales 0-0 Germany

Now Wales threaten at a corner. The ball reaches Sophie Ingle at the far post but her volley is saved.

Gemma Evans then knocks the ball out of Germany keeper Merel Frohms' hands and into the net, but it's a clear foul.

  16. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

A first chance for Wales to attack sees Rachel Rowe's through ball cut out on the edge of the area.

Then Elise Hughes drives into the box but looks to cross - and the ball is blocked - when she might have shot.

  17. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

Klara Buhl turns well on halfway before being brought down by Charlie Estcourt.

Germany are seeing plenty of the ball in the opening stages.

  18. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

    Kath Morgan

Former Wales captain on BBC Radio Cymru

The truth is, Wales won't have much of the ball tonight.

Germany will dominate possession. when that happens, it plays on your mind.

One mistake from Wales or lack of concentration, teams like Germany will punish you.

  19. Post update

    Wales 0-0 Germany

As expected, Wales have begun with three central defenders, with Josie Green alongside Rhiannon Roberts and Gemma Evans.

Charlie Estcourt is a right-wingback with Lily Woodham on the left.

And they are having to do some defending already.

  20. Post update
