  1. 'Robson right to rest key men'published at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2023

Barry Robson is absolutely right to rest his key players with the cup final coming up.

I don't think anyone can complain, unless you're maybe the chairman who wants the bucks rather than the cup...

But I don't even think that's true, I'm sure Dave Cormack would rather have a trophy in the cabinet rather than some extra cash coming from a win here tonight.

Eintracht and Aberdeen opened their Conference League campaigns against each other in Frankfurt back in September.

With their fates in the competition already decided, both have huge domestic games to look forward to this weekend.

The Dons, who can no longer progress beyond the groups, play Rangers in the Viaplay Cup final on Sunday.

While the Germans, who are already assured of their participation in the knockout stages, travel to Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen on the same day.

Given all of the above, it is unsurprising manager Barry Robson has rung the changes.

The priority for the Dons tonight is simply to avoid picking up any injuries to any key players and to emerge with their pride still intact.

Eintracht, having already qualified for the knockout stages, have also made some changes - five to be exact.

But the likes of Kevin Trapp, Mario Gotze, Robin Koch and Junior Dina Ebimbe still all start for the Bundesliga side.

Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush, who scored in the reverse fixture, is out through illness.

As expected, Barry Robson rings the changes.

Only keeper Kelle Roos and defenders Stefan Gartenmann and Jack Milne keep their places in the XI following Saturday's late win over Hearts.

Star striker Bojan Miovski, who is fighting to be fit for Sunday's final, isn't on the bench.
