Havertz starting up front? God I miss the days of Henry (yes, Thierry, not Karl!). Expecting another comfortable Liverpool win unfortunately.

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking to MOTD: "I said before, when you don't build on the last win then it is nothing. That was our challenge before and the lads did it.

"I am happy with the way we played. We were a threat all the game through. When we serve our front line we can score goals. They can be direct and score goals.

On Rasmus Hojlund: "His confidence is growing. He is playing better on the ball, he is a target and he is linking up. It is about togetherness."

On Lisandro Martinez injury: "It seems bad. We have to wait, make the right diagnosis in the coming days and then we will see. Hopefully it is not too bad, we can only pray.

"He worked so hard to return and now after two games it looks like he has to sit some games out again."

On young players like Hojlund, Garnacho and Mainoo: "The future for Manchester United is very good because we have high potentials. I think that picture [below] covers the lot, how they are together and want to play football with adventure and enjoyment. If we keep this process going I am sure we will achieve high levels.

"We are building a team, we signed young players and give them opportunities. This is a process with ups and downs and we have to realise this. Our experienced players will help them and we need them and they will help the young players perform."

With respect, Arsenal starting Havertz and Jorginho in the middle is not a good idea. Neither can tackle, both have a tendency to throw possession away and neither have recovery pace. This could be a massacre.

Players are in the tunnel. It's almost time for what looks like it should be the game of the weekend.

Although we've had 37 goals this weekend already so maybe it won't end up that way.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was not easy, West Ham are a good side, but it was a great win for us."

On Garnacho's performance: "It is a time where he has to get used to this position because he prefers a little more left. He is playing now from the right, has some freedom and fluidity in the game where he could find some spaces. He was very good in his attacking, creating and dribbling. I am very pleased with this performance.

"I have said it before in the last couple of months the future for Manchester United is very bright. We have some real high potentials, we can play fluid football, speed it up as we need and defend well.

"The goals today showed young players with high potential. They get used to the Premier League standards. Every game they are growing and improving and adapting to a higher level.

"When they enjoy their football the confidence comes and you can see the belief is growing.

"The celebration I liked it. It is showing we do it together."

On Lisandro Martinez's injury: "I can't tell you detail. We have to find out the next days what the diagnosis. It is very bad, very bad for him and the team. He is just returning. He is very important for us. He brings spirit to the team, aside from his football ability."

    Liverpool

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think the last games we showed character [previously against Arsenal] and that was tough at times, but we managed really well in moments.

"Obviously they are a good team and we have to respect that as well, but we know what we are capable of and we need to show our qualities."

On dominating games: "In possession keep the ball more and try to play more and go attack-after-attack and try hurt them there."

On starting: "I think we have a lot of players up front and we do it together, but individually you have to take your chances and do your best for the team."

  9. 'We have to win every game'published at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Arsenal v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya speaking to Sky Sports: "It feels like a normal game. It is another game in the Premier League and the stakes are three points.

"We have to win every game and we have prepared the same way. I know it is Liverpool in front of us, but the main thing is to get the three points at the end of the day."

On feeling settled at Arsenal: "You need time to adapt and you then feel part of the team, obviously you need time to feel that way. I am feeling back to myself and trying to help the team as much as possible.

"Of course you have to focus game-by-game and we will see where we are in May. We have to do everything we can to get them [points]."

If Darwin Nunez was not getting shots away or in the right position you would be worried. Klopp will be working with him and the good thing for him at the moment is that the other players are doing well as well.

It's not all of the pressure on him and I fully expect him to carry on and he will go again. His pace and power and all-round game scares defenders so I think he will be fine.

Liverpool haven’t always had to have a main centre-forward. They had Firmino and he can float out wide. That will take the pressure off him. It will come a point where he has to produce more but at the moment he is getting in the right are and creating opportunities for others.

He is a top player for Liverpool and those goals will come.

  11. Are Arsenal out of the title race if they lose?published at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Arsenal v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

If Arsenal lose, they will be eight points behind the leaders, Liverpool, with 15 games to go.

Only six teams have ever won the title from a position like that after 23 or more games (including teams with games in hand), but one of those was last season - going against Arsenal.

Manchester City trailed the Gunners by eight points after 28 games and went on to win the title with three games to spare.

City have done it three times, also coming from eight points behind in 2012 (after 32 games) and nine points off top in 2014 (after 33 games) to win the title.

Arsenal have done it once before, when they were 12 points off top after 25 games in March 1998 - and ended up as champions.

The other two occasions involved Manchester United, in 1996 (12 points off top after 23 games) and 2003 (eight points off after 28 games).

Bournemouth goalscorer Justin Kluivert, speaking to Sky Sports: "Of course [frustrated didn't win] but in the end the red card we got...you could say we got the maximum out of the game.

"It's important to maintain momentum but Nottingham Forest did a good job. We had some difficulties but we gave our all, so did they.

"We have had some tough games. To walk away with a point is much better than losing. For sure [there is more to come] Everyone needs to work hard every day and we will."

On his goal: "I didn't know for sure [I had scored]. I thought I got it. It is my role. I'm happy with it."

Manchester United goalscorer Rasmus Hojlund, speaking to MOTD about scoring on his birthday: "I got my present in the morning and now I got an even bigger one so I am happy!"

On now scoring regularly: "It has always been there, I have always believed in myself, it has just been about getting the rhythm going. You get one goal, then two and get a bit of momentum and start linking up with the players.

"I spoke with my team-mates and manager because we need to make each other better, that is what it is about. I want to be involved as much as possible.

"I also worked a lot on myself, I looked at my game and what I could improve. I think I have developed a lot since I've been here."

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is "a football doctor", says manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Argentine, 25, joined the Reds last summer from Brighton and has been a regular in the team.

"It is a wonderful story with his father, brothers and uncles, analysing games as a kid," said Klopp.

"I could not thank his father enough for that knowledge and education. Playing the position he plays the way he does is very, very special. Super smart. His contribution for all our play in possession is extremely important.

"We have had it in a few years during the time I was here when everything is going well that everyone wants to write a book about an individual player. They are all good, really good. That's why we are top of the table in the best league in the world at this moment in time.

"These past years was one of best midfields we ever had, and some of our best stories happened because of them. We needed to change and improve as a team again and we found a way."

  16. 'Liverpool have done it, we haven't'published at 16:15 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Arsenal v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta led the Gunners to the FA Cup in his first season in charge, and then back into the Champions League last season.

But he admits expectations are higher now than in 2019 when he took over.

"The first intention was to make our people proud. Proud of the club, proud of the team and how we represent our club - and to be with our ambitions, and enjoy," the ex-Gunners midfielder said.

"I think we have given them these two things in the last few years, probably more than was expected.

"But the demands are bigger - and have to be bigger. Now that has to be to win big trophies - and win major trophies consistently and be at the very top.

"That's the next step. Liverpool have done it, we haven't."

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports about Gabriel Jesus' injury: "Unfortunately he had a setback in training and was not fit to play. It is something related to that [previous knee injury].

"Hopefully a short-term [injury], but the game will be too fast for him."

On Kai Havertz starting: "Every game is different, we know what to expect from each other and I chose the players who I think are better to start the game.

"Two very competitive teams, there will be a lot of transitional moments we both play very fast.

"We have to be really sharp."

On a fast-paced game: "Jorginho brings that organisation and leadership.

"Liverpool have a team team with a lot of versatility in the way they attack, Jorginho can adapt to that.

"We want to enjoy and we want to play big matches and I think this place [Emirates] will be at its very best and we really want to enjoy this game."

  19. 'When Nunez comes on he can change the game'published at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February

    Arsenal v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to Sky Sports about the death of Conor Bradley's father: "I think the best way to be now is around his family and that is where we have sent him.

"Very sad news and I told him to take his time, that is clear. We will see what the next days bring."

On Dominik Szoboszlai: "Dom fell in the same area where he was injured before, we had a look at it and there was no chance he could be involved in this game and we cannot take any risks."

On Darwin Nunez being on the bench: "Nothing to do with intensity in the games we have.

"It is how we start and how we use the full power of the boys. Darwin from the bench is a good thing to have as well.

"It is just for this game how we thought it made sense. But we really think when he comes on he can change the game and have a real impact."

On Arsenal: "A well set-up team quality in all departments and really well coached.

"The wings are a super threat, we have to make sure we get that done.

"Defensively they are strong from the physical point of view and tactically a good football team always asks questions and we have to make sure we ask more questions.

"That is the idea today, we played an incredible game a few days ago. Is that possible away from home? I would like to give it a try.

"Now we have just played them recently, I heard Mikel say 'we have to do the same'.

"We have to play better, the second game at home was okay and the game here there was a lot of passion in the cup game, but they were better for long periods but we scored the goals."
