Palace's teenage Brazilian winger Matheus Franca is having it tough out there at the moment.

he has Malo Gusto charging at him every time Chelsea attack and he's also looked half a yard off the pace of the game when he does get hold of the ball in an attacking sense.

Palace have a bit of the ball and build down the left. Jean-Philippe Mateta's attempted cross is a bit overhit but they recycle the ball well until Adam Wharton gives it away with a sloppy pass on the edge of the Chelsea area.

It is a great finish and it had to be Conor Gallagher didn't it?

Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto gets down the wing and picks out the run of the England midfielder, who cushions the ball as it skips up, to guide it past Palace keeper Dean Henderson, from eight yards or so.

The Palace speaker system is playing Three Little Birds by Bob Marley and the crowd sing 'every little thing is going to be alright' while they wait for the referee to sort his communication pack. It's been quite a lengthy delay to the second half.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is offering some superb analysis on the Crystal Palace goal from a his perspective.

The four-time Premier League winner says current Blues stopper Djordje Petrovic was "too deep" by being on his line and the trade-off he gets from having a fraction of a second more to react against being three or four yards further forward does very little.

"He had a very good push and a very good step but still could not get there," Cech says.

"You can see how close he ends up but there is a large space to cover. A small touch would have been enough [to save it]."

As you can tell from this stat Crystal Palace aren't exactly in a familiar position being ahead at the break.

Our friends from Opta say the Eagles are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches when leading at half-time (W7, D1) dating back to 27th August 2022 against Manchester City (L2-4).

Nearly everyone loses at Man City though don't they these days - although from memory given I was at the Etihad reporting on that, they were a bit unlucky in that one.

    Tight angle that.
