Liverpool supporter right here: The people who say we should scrap replays don't know what they are talking about. We saw a great game of football tonight.

Ricardo Ron: Great tie and a great advert for why replays should not be scrapped.

Premier League side Nottingham Forest needed extra-time to see off League One's Blackpool in a thrilling FA Cup third-round replay at Bloomfield Road.

Forest had looked to be cruising into the fourth round when Danilo made it 2-0 in the first minute of the second half after Andrew Omobamidele had scored in the 16th minute on his Forest debut.

But Blackpool fought back in style.

Albie Morgan, whose poor backpass had led to Danilo's goal, pulled one back with a great strike from 25 yards before substitute Kyle Joseph headed in from close range to make it 2-2 to set up a frantic finish.

Then, in the eighth minute of additional time, Blackpool almost won it but Orel Mangala made an incredible block on the goalline after Karamoko Dembele had gone round Forest goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Early in the second period of extra-time, the visitors retook the lead as Ryan Yates' low cross from the left was turned in by Chris Wood for what proved to be the winning goal.

Lawman: It seems it doesn’t matter what you throw at Sean Dyche, he’ll just get on with the job he has in hand. You've got to respect that. Surprised on how well he is doing at Everton after a shaky start with the club. Fair play.

Another early cup exit without even scoring for Palace (over two games). One win in eleven is surely ‘sackable’ form, how does that compare with Vieira and others? No first team signings in the transfer window too you can guarantee. A bad state there.

  7. 'Nothing but praise for our players'published at 22:46 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    FT: Blackpool 2-3 Forest

Blackpool manager Neil Critchley, speaking to ITV4: "It's hard to take, but I have nothing but praise for our players. You couldn't tell the difference between the two sets of players. An exciting cup tie, we played with endeavour and energy.

"The whole team, even when we were losing we went after Forest. We tried to press them. I thought we caused them problems."

  8. 'Win on the board'published at 22:44 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    Alan Stubbs
Former Celtic & Everton defender on 5 Sports Extra

Everton could have managed the game a little bit better but the most important thing is they are in the next round and have a home tie against Luton. Everton at home, you'd like to think they have a very good chance of coming through that. They have a win on the board and that's important.

    FT: Blackpool 2-3 Nottingham Forest

    Conor McNamara
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

Any time a new manager comes in the fans hope it is a new dawn for their club, and there are very tangible improvements at Forest since Nuno's arrival.

Chris Wood's goalscoring exploits are one of the main improvements, he's now scored five goals in five games since the change.

The fans have come all the way to Blackpool on a freezing cold Wednesday and were given a real scare, at one point they would have been thinking 'Is this another shock result?'

But their team had the goods, and the quality with Wood finding the winning goal, and the fans go home happy.

    FT: Blackpool 2-3 Forest

Nottingham Forest match winner Chris Wood, speaking to ITV4: "It's about getting to the next round, we had to do it ugly again. We made it hard for ourselves as we did at the City Ground.

On the celebrations: "All our thoughts go to Cheikou [Kouyate] and his family. He knows he is loved by us and our fans, so we dedicated that to him."

On facing his former club Bristol City in the next round: "They are doing well in the Championship, it will be tough. It is always tough to go to Ashton Gate."

  14. 'Forest deserved it over the course of the tie'published at 22:33 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January

    FT: Blackpool 2-3 Nottingham Forest

    Charlie Adam
Former Blackpool midfielder and current Fleetwood Town manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Forest will be delighted to get through in the end. It has taken them two draws and extra time to get the job done, and a very tough away game.

They showed great character to finish the tie off, to go 130 odd minutes with the ten minutes of stoppage time before extra time. The fitness of both sides was incredible.

A great game again between both teams, and I think Forest deserved it on balance of things over the tie.
