Yutaro Oda flashes a cross one but there's no one there to take advantage.

Hearts still penning Spartans in without too much cutting edge. We need something to liven this one up.

The crowd could be playing more of a part here. They are right on top of the action, but they’re fairly quiet. Well, apart from the small band of drum players on both sides.

That's a better corner form the visitors.

It's Jorge Grant with the delivery this time, who finds a free Frankie Kent. The defender's header drops just wide.

    HT: The Spartans 0-1 Hearts

Former Scotland rugby captain Gavin Hastings is an interested spectator this afternoon, and has been chatting to BBC Scotland:

"I do have a slight connection with Spartans. My son Adam used to play for one of the junior teams here.

"It's great to see such a full house today. Hearts are my team, so I'm here wearing two hats I suppose.

"It's a wonderful community club, and what Spartans have done in this part of Edinburgh is nothing short of brilliant."

From a Scotland perspective, it really is class to see Craig Gordon back.

He's not had too much to do, but that save from Callum Booth's volley was a sign he's still got it. You'd imagine Steve Clarke is watching on.

  16. 'Spartans making life difficult'published at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

    HT: The Spartans 0-1 Hearts

    Shelley Kerr
Former Scotland head coach on BBC One Scotland

Hearts started really well, used wide areas particularly well, and that was how they got the goal.

Spartans have been organised and made it really compact. It's been difficult for Hearts to find space.

Kenneth Vargas' fine header is the difference at the break.

Not much to get excited about so far, but Spartans are certainly still in this one. Big team talk from Dougie Samuel to come.

    The Spartans 0-1 Hearts

    Leanne Crichton
Former Scotland international on BBC Scotland

Carswell does really well. It's a brilliant stop from the goalkeeper.

The quality of the finish isn't there from Vargas. He needs to do better I think. He gives the goalkeeper a chance.
