Well, even by EFL standards, that was an extraordinary evening...

There were 82 goals scored in the 21 games played in League One and Two this evening.

We had five, six and even a seven-goal thriller and, of course, Mansfield's historic 9-2 win over in-form Harrogate - a battering which seems especially appropriate on Pancake Day.

We're off to recover for a few hours, but don't dismay, there's plenty more action where that came from.

What better way to spend Valentine's evening than by joining our live text service covering five more bumper Championship offerings?

We just hope you love the EFL as much as we do!

Until tomorrow, thanks for your company!

Stockport's lead at the top has been cut to just one point after their 3-1 defeat by Crewe, who themselves consolidate their spot in the automatic promotion places.

But they will both be watching (almost certainly nervously) Mansfield Town after their astonishing 9-2 win over Harrogate.

Hiram Boateng's hat-trick was the centre-piece for the Stags who equalled their biggest-ever win dating back to their days in Division Three North in 1932 - when they also won 9-2 against Rotherham.

    League One table

It's as you were at the top after the top three all won.

Portsmouth survived a few nerves after falling behind against Cambridge United but hit back to ease to a comfortable 3-1 win at Fratton Park for a fifth victory in six games.

Derby County and Bolton made sure Pompey stayed in view with wins over Exeter and Wycombe respectively.

Oxford United crept up into the play-off places after seeing off Wigan in fine style 4-2.

    Stockport 1-3 Crewe

    The league leaders are beaten!

What a result for Crewe, who took a very early lead through Mickey Demetriou.

Isaac Olafe levelled for the hosts 10 minutes before half time but Ed Turns' first goal for Crewe headed them back in front.

Josh Austerfield added a third six minutes into the second half and it was more than enough for the Alex.

Harry McKirdy has made the Swindon fans' journey home from Kent a bit more enjoyable, firing home an injury-time goal to make it 2-2 against Gillingham.

Significant blow for the home side, who had been set to climb into the play-off positions. Instead it's Notts County who move up to seventh after their win at Newport.

    Charlton 1-1 Lincoln

Freddie Ladapo's first Charlton goal avoided the ignominy of a fifth straight home defeat, but the Addicks remain in the mire and are now winless in 14 matches in League One.

Reeco Hackett blasted the Imps ahead and Daniel Mandroiu hit the post but Ladapo struck in the final 20 minutes to ensure Nathan Jones' first home game ends with something to show for it and Adetayo Edun so nearly won it in the dying seconds, being denied by Lukas Jensen.

The Addicks remain a point above the drop zone, however, having played three games more than the side below them, Port Vale, with Cheltenham closing fast below them.

Sorry Reading fans - we might have put the mockers on them with that earlier comment about three straight wins.

Because it doesn't look as though the Royals will complete that hat-trick after all - they've been pegged back at Fleetwood by Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu's injury-time goal.

Elsewhere, Ruel Sotiriou's strike deep into added time has put Leyton Orient ahead for the fourth time against Northampton and Tyler Goodrham has a fourth for Oxford, who lead Wigan 4-2.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February

    Charlton 1-1 Lincoln.

Keeper Lukas Jensen might have just ensured Lincoln a point in the NINTH minute of stoppage time.

He has flown off his line to deny sub Adetayo Edun who was clean through on goal trying to end the winless streak at 13.

    Sutton 1-2 Wrexham

Elliot Lee's winner five minutes from time stops the rot for Wrexham after three straight defeats.

Will Boyle gave them the lead in first-half stoppage time before Charlie Lakin levelled for Sutton via a deflection with 14 minutes to go.

But Lee has won it for Wrexham to keep them just two points outside the automatic promotion places.

Sutton remain in deep relegation trouble.

    Mansfield 9-2 Harrogate

Mansfield Town manager Nigel Clough claps the fansImage source, Rex Features

Well a truly barmy evening in North Nottinghamshire comes to an end.

Mansfield have scored NINE times to equal the biggest win in their history.

It was five at half-time before Hiram Boateng completed his hat-trick shortly after the break.

Harrogate got two back quickly to ease the pain a little but Will Swan then scored twice in two minutes as the rout continued.

    Portsmouth 3-1 Cambridge

They had to come from behind but the leaders remain six points clear at the summit.

Myles Peart-Harris and an Abu Kamara blockbuster ensured they completed a second-half comeback after Kusini Yengi's penalty late in the first half cancelled-out Danny Andrew's header from a corner.

That's back-to-back home wins for the first time since October for John Mousinho's men. Neil Harris' side remain four points clear of the drop-zone.

This has been done for a while, in truth.

Max Bird found the bottom corner from distance before the break and after the turnaround Nathaniel Mendez-Laing burst home to double the lead before Tom Barkhuizen curled a third to put the game beyond doubt.

An 11th away win of the campaign and seventh in nine on the road has kept the Rams in second, within six points of the leaders.

Two significant late goals at the top of the table, with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson scoring a second to all but seal a 2-0 win for third-placed Bolton against Wycombe.

Meanwhile, Herbie Kane's injury-time penalty has brought Barnsley back to 1-1 at Shrewsbury, a scoreline which would be enough to keep the Tykes in fourth place.
