It's great to see Ethan Ampadu back in Devon.

I remember going to interview him training at the Cat and Fiddle, and he arrived from the bus stop in his school uniform.

I don't think he has ever scored professionally.

I think the jury is still out on what is his best position-defensive midfield or in defence?

Leeds' Ampadu, of course, began his career up the A38 in Devon at Exeter City.

There were some VERY early alarms set by Leeds fans making the journey down to Devon today

Leeds players and hardy travelling fans have wracked up the miles in February so far.

The Whites have had away dates at Bristol City, here at Plymouth in the FA Cup, Swansea and now they're back in Devon for the second time in 10 days.

To top it off they've got a trip to the capital to face rivals Chelsea in the FA Cup fifth round this month as well.

Fortunately, their first two away days in March are just a little closer to home than the South West, as they face a pair of Yorkshire derbies at Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday.

  4. Team Newspublished at 12:22 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Plymouth v Leeds (12:30 GMT)

Plymouth gaffer Ian Foster makes four changes from the team that started the 2-2 draw with Coventry on Wednesday. Jordan Houghton, Julio Pleguzuelo, Mickel Miller and Ben Waine all come in. Midfielder Darko Gyabi is ineligible as he is on loan from Leeds.

Plymouth XI: Hazard, Phillips, Pleguezuelo, Gibson, Sorinola, Houghton, Randell, Miller, Whittaker, Devine, Waine.

Subs: Burton, Mumba, Sousa, Scarr, Edwards, Hardie, Bundu, Galloway, Issaka.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke is a man who know what he likes and likes what he knows. He goes with the same XI who started the 4-0 shellacking of Swansea on Tuesday. Striker Patrick Bamford had to drop out of that game after picking up an injury in the warm-up and he misses out again today.

Leeds XI: Meslier, Gray, Rodon, Ampadu, Firpo; Gruev, Kamara; Summerville, Gnonto, Piroe, Rutter.

Subs: Klaesson, Van Den Heuvel, Shackleton, Cresswell, Cooper, Roberts, James, Gelhardt, Joseph.

  5. Saints bounce back from setback to beat Baggiespublished at 12:19 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

Friday recap: West Brom 0-2 Southampton

Ryan Fraser scores for SouthamptonImage source, Rex Features

Southampton saw their long unbeaten run ended in midweek when they suffered a 3-1 reverse at Bristol City.

However, Russell Martin's men dispelled any notion that that could seriously derail their bid for automatic promotion as they cruised to a 2-0 win at play-off chasing West Brom last night.

A goal in each half from Ryan Fraser and David Brooks were enough to see them climb back up to second before today's action.

For fifth-placed Albion, who had boss Carlos Corberan sent off early on for kicking the ball when it was still in play, defeat means they will have to watch today's action knowing their grip on a top six-spot will likely be far looser come 17:00 GMT.

A Home from home: Leeds boss Daniel Farke brings his side back to Plymouth for the second time in 10 days

Good afternoon and welcome to today's Championship live text.

We've got 11 games from the second tier for you today, starting off with third-placed Leeds' trip to Plymouth.

These pair hadn't met in over 16 years before the first league clash in November but this will be the fourth head-to-head in just over three months.

The Whites are looking for an eighth straight league win in 2024 and will go back up to second should they get it.

However, the Pilgrims will be no pushovers, they haven't lost at Home Park in the league since 7 October.

Fifteen minutes until kick off, let's get cracking.
