New league leaders Mansfield proved far too much for Salford, who were on the wrong end of a 5-1 defeat, but Swindon were not able to capitalise too much - although they took a point from a goalless draw with Stockport.

Forest Green still occupy that 23rd spot but their win today sees them move further away from Sutton, whose late penalty chance went awry to keep them bottom of the table after drawing with a struggling Colchester.

    #bbcefl

For the first time in 134 days there's a new name at the top of League Two, as Mansfield replace Stockport at the summit following a 5-1 thrashing of Salford.

Crewe leapfrog Wrexham into third after victory at Notts County, and Gillingham move into the final coveted play-off spot as a result of their win over Phil Parkinson's side.

Wins for Crawley and Walsall keep the pressure on the Gills, while Morecambe stay in touch after their draw with Grimsby.

The big losers of the day are Harrogate, who drop from seventh to 11th. It's so tight in mid-table right now.

  4. Carlisle stay bottom of League Onepublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

Things don’t get any better for Carlisle at the foot of the table. They took the lead at Bristol Rovers but the Gas turned it around to win 2-1 and consign Paul Simpson's men to an eighth consecutive league defeat.

Promise Omochere’s second-half equaliser earned a point for Charlie Adam’s second-bottom Fleetwood at Exeter, while Port Vale’s winless run stretched to nine matches as they lost 2-0 at home to Lincoln.

Charlton earned an impressive home point against leaders Portsmouth but are still yet to win under Nathan Jones after four games. They are a point ahead of Cheltenham, who drew with Wigan on Friday.

Outside the relegation zone, it has tightened up after Shrewsbury’s 3-2 win at Reading moved them level with the Royals, along with Burton, Cambridge and Wycombe who are all on 38 points.

  5. Pompey extend League One lead as rivals beatenpublished at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February

    #bbcefl

Portsmouth move seven points clear at the top despite their goalless draw at struggling Charlton. That is because the teams in second and third, Derby and Bolton, both lost.

Derby's defeat at Barnsley means the Reds are now just three points behind the Rams and Bolton, who were hammered 4-1 at Blackpool and ended with 10 men.

Peterborough are back up to fifth after they ended their four-game losing run with a narrow win at Cambridge. That helped them to leapfrog Oxford, who lost at home to Leyton Orient.

Stevenage had a narrow victory over Wycombe and they are now one point behind Oxford, while Blackpool remain eighth but will surely take huge confidence of how they came back to beat Bolton.

Orient and Lincoln both enjoyed away-day wins, but it will probably take something special for them to make the play-offs.

    Mansfield 5-1 Salford

    Stag-geringly good.

The hosts are top of the League Two pile tonight after a brilliant performance at home to Salford, who see their unbeaten run under new manager Karl Robinson ended.

Will Swan, Baily Cargill, Davis Keillor-Dunn, Lucas Akins and Hiram Boateng were the scorers, and Mansfield have now scored 21 goals in their past five games.

Junior Luamba's lovely solo effort briefly had Salford level in the first half, and the Ammies ended the day with 10 men after Theo Vassell was sent off in the closing stages.

    FT: Notts County 1-3 Crewe

    Mark Stallard
Former Notts County striker on BBC Radio Nottingham

A comfortable away victory, comprehensive for Crewe. Worthy winners and they will up their position in the table, Notts slipping back into the pack.

I'm not sure Notts have been at it today. It's been a real bad day at the office all over the pitch.

    Notts County 1-3 Crewe

Three goals, three points and it's third place for Crewe tonight.

Early goals from Mickey Demetriou and Elliott Nevitt set them on their way, before Josh Austerfield's strike put the result beyond doubt towards the end.

Jim O'Brien's late response for Notts was just a consolation.

It's a first win at Meadow Lane since 1997 for Lee Bell's men.

    Sutton 1-1 Colchester

It's a point for bottom side Sutton, but it's a story of what might have been.

Charlie Lakin's equaliser cancelled out Cameron McGeehan's opener for Colchester, but the hosts will rue a series of golden opportunities to claim all three points.

Craig Clay fluffed his line from close range, and Harry Smith saw his late penalty saved by Owen Goodman.

    Mansfield 4-1 Salford

    Adam Whitty
BBC Final Score at OneCall Stadium

A rough second half has gone from bad to worse for Salford (almost as bad as a Final Score reporter who can't get on air).

Since Karl Robinson took over at the turn of the year, the Ammies were unbeaten. It's a run of form that has probably taken them clear of relegation, but this will still sting.

Mansfield have been fabulous though and are going top. The 7,000 here at Field Mill sound a lot louder than that. League One beckons, surely?
